a,

Try different brands.

I've settled on Virgin Coconut oil only, as many people have objected

to the flavor of many of the common brands.

Never have I experienced rancid VCO and it sits in a gallon container

on the floor of my kitchen sometimes for over a year.

It has been my choice as a cooking oil for over a decade.

Another study found Americans drink, on the average, 22 gallons of

alcohol a year. That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles

to the gallon.

a, traditionally extracted VCO has a shelf life of around 4 months, with

degradation that is unacceptable in 3 months to some people, according to North

America's biggest coconut oil wholesaler, Quality First International.

Try using CO in cooking. It is delicious and can stand more heat than other

oils.

I have been using tropical traditions since June last year and it has never done

that to me. I have gone through four containers so far. Two were glass jars and

two were heavy white plastic buckets. I have also used it in coffee and it is

fine there, too. It did not put a taste to the coffee at all. Only an oily

texture. I think it was Alobar who said he had your same experience when he was

using tropical traditions, tho.

Even though it is within the date, I would just question the purity of the batch

yours was made from when it does this to you.

My current bucket of CO (tropical traditions) is way older than 3 months and it

is not rancid. It is at least 6 months old.

Years ago I bought a batch of coconut oil which gave me

catch-in-the-throat. According to folks on this list, I learned that

if not all the water had been removed, it goes rancid very quickly.

When I brought this up with the supplier, I was told the oil was

fince and I could not return it. I stopped buying oil from that

supplier.

If you go to the files section on the group website

Coconut Oil/files/

there is a good explanation I posted there years ago called " Throat Catch.txt "
