Guest guest
Things have happen since I last posted here. My lab came back positive with elevated liver enzymes. Dr. now want to know why. They have been occasionally up while using statin drugs for high cholesterol. I was switched back and forth to different brands to remedy this. I was finally put on Zetia, later Vitorin. About then my legs started to hurt, both of them and it was similar pain as I experience now. I was taken off of these meds in September. Pain still continued, I still rode my bike but was unable to walk more than one grocery isle. About then my knee started to act up and I began blaming the pain on the knee as the pain from my right leg dissipated and now only had it in the leg with my bad knee, probably shifted due to my limping. I then went to see my Orthopedic Doc who confirmed that knee is bone to bone and that I should be thinking about surgery. Made up my mind in November and scheduled it for after xmas. So mean while this pain has became terrifically worse as mentioned in one of my post. One of you suggested that it might be a pinched nerve. Talked with nurses again and told them that pain was real bad and caused me to go to ER last Sunday and ask for Prednison. Just then they started to be alerted and wonder if this is might be secondary pain along side my knee pain which I have been trying to tell them all along. Yes it is different, different like pain of a cut or a burn. This all aside the elevated liver enzymes and we now rethink delaying the surgery till we find out about the leg pain and what's the cause. Had today another lab, 8 x-rays to my back, (mandatory before a MRI), and an Ultra sound of my liver. No results thus far. To tell the truth, I am awfully glad to probably not having to go through the surgery at this point. All along I did not feel right about it, not at all as I felt when I went to have both of my hips done. It's almost a relieve for the time being anyhow. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
, same here. I hurt so bad before the surgery that I couldn't do anything including just function. The pain from the surgery is absolutely worth it and my life is better. I am getting ready to have my second knee done. KeimStart the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. Guest guest
Seriously. You would advocate for waiting for surgery when surgery relieves the pain for good. Which joint are you talking about, Bob? Because believe me the less than three months of post-op pain for my TKR were a joy compared to the five years of unrelenting pain before the surgery. I didn't have periods of great pain, I had constant pain and immobility due to pain. And incredible exhaustion because of pain. My knee is pain-free now. That is something that would have never had without the TKR. -----Original Message-----From: Joint Replacement [mailto:Joint Replacement ]On Behalf Of rob weesnerSent: Friday, January 11, 2008 11:38 AMJoint Replacement Subject: Re: update - somewhat long greetingssss......try to prolong the operotion as long as possible the joint can handle the stress more than you think. .... i for one have prolonged yhis for 24 years...sure threr are periods of great pain, but the periods are alot better than the long periods of pain after the operation....blessed be....bob update - somewhat long Things have happen since I last posted here. Guest guest
Thanks for the input. Basically I was not referring to my knee pain but other pain I have been experiencing aside of which is shooting pain from the ankle to the groin and only takes place when I lay down for longer than about an hour or 2. Then I have to walk around some and I will be good again for another 1 or 2 hours. Meanwhile a MRI has been scheduled to see if I have a pinched nerve somewhere. Got the results of my liver scan and all seemed fine. They did however find gall stones which will be looked at the same time when I have the MRI. Liver enzymes went down some but not enough to satisfy the anesthesiologist. So surgery for the time being is delayed till these things are taken care of. Otherwise I would not have any qualms of having the TKR tomorrow. I so much enjoyed my mobility after both hips were done as life is short and I have things to do. Grandkids to play with, riding my bike, travel some, take walks and smell the roses. I will not put up with long periods of pain if I can help it. Sorry, but thanks anyway. rob weesner wrote: greetingssss......try to prolong the operotion as long as possible the joint can handle the stress more than you think. .... i for one have prolonged yhis for 24 years...sure threr are periods of great pain, but the periods are alot better than the long periods of pain after the operation....blessed be....bob ----- Original Message ---- From: N. <maria_nasbcglobal (DOT) net> Joint Replacement Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2008 1:01:09 PM Subject: update - somewhat long Things have happen since I last posted here.
