Snoring after surgery

Hi all! I know the subject sounds strange but since my last hip

replacement my snoring has gotten terrible - before hand I would snore

if I slept on my back (which I hate to do anyway)or if I was sick with a

cold. But now I snore so bad that I wake myself up all the time most of

the time right in the middle of a nice loud snore which of course makes

me choke a little and cough.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem because this snoring

started after my last surgery at first since I could only sleep on my

back I didn't think much of it since that was normal. But even on my

side (on my unoperated side - right side) I snore like crazy and it is

driving me insane my sleeping is completely ruined by it. A normal night

for me is to to go to sleep at 9pm wake up to my snoring around midnight

stay up until I am about to pass out again which is around 4am and sleep

to 9am. I have made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss this

but I don't see him until October - I booked it at the end of August

almost 2 months to see my family doctor *sigh*.

And the sneezing I swear I can't take it anymore that started up a week

after my last surgery as well within the first hour after I wake up I am

lucky if I only sneeze 13 or 14 times (yes I have counted) and it is

only the first hour after I wake up my family doctor thinks it is

allergies or something yet he has tested me for any - I have never had

any allergies before. My mom on the other hand is allergic to everything

and I still sneeze more than her.

Some background on my last surgery which had two years ago now - it was

my left hip replaced for the second time (the 1st time was 1 and a half

years before the revision due to loosening). The surgery went well but

when I came too I was kept in the recovery room to almost midnight (I

had at my 2 hr surgery at 9am) due to my breathing supposedly a

reaction/slight overdose of the drugs made my breathing shallow and

erratic - breathing mask and etc.

Other information that may play a part ( I am looking at all angles) I

was 249 lbs. at the time of surgery and had dropped to 190 last summer

due to the sitting set back climbed back to 216 - which I am currently

at. So I know that I am overweight have been working at it but with

limited movement and no money it is difficult lol. I know snoring can be

caused by being overweight but wouldn't it have started when I was at my

heaviest? I could just scream I am so frustrated by this and tired all

the time - I want a sleep test or whatever to see what is going on.

So if anyone has had a similar problem after surgery or heard of

something similar I would love to hear it. Thanks all - any and all

coments and opinions welcomed :)
