Guest guest
I had my left knee done in Oct and lately have had some pain in my hip and groin and thigh but not really bad. Kind of comes and goes. I think mine is because I need to have the other knee done and will soon. My left knee holds me up so well and my right one feels uneven for some reason. KeimStart the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.
Guest guest
Well, I have two really bad knees that the docs say I’m too young to replace (45 YO) and bad hips too. I haven’t slept all through the night for about 4 ½ years. My family doc knows that as well as my OS and they don’t seem to be concerned about the lack of sleep. Make sure you get enough sleep as the lack of it can make you hurt more. My hips (especially the right one) and knees hurt badly 24/7 and I can’t get any help with any of them. Hi everyone, I'm 49, just had both knees replaced on Nov. 15, 2007 and am recovering well from the surgery. Good rom (0-120), going to pt 2x a week to work on strength and balance (which I'm having a hard time with, LOL) I had a lot of hip pain before my surgery but my os just gave me steroid shots and said we need to take care of the knees first. Well, now that the knees are done, my hips are really hurting! It seems as soon as I got off the oxycontin the pain in my hips is unbearable. After 4 nights of very little sleep and a lot of pain, I finally called my fam. dr. and asked for sleeping pills. They were given to me only because I do have an appt. with my os this Friday and hopefully we'll get to the bottom of the pain. There's no position that's comfortable and any activity really seems to aggrivate the pain. I've tried ibuprophan but it doesn't even touch the pain. Luckily, I have enough percocets left to help out until I see my os. The pain is right at my hips and seems to radiate to my groin and upper thighs. It's both hips, although sometimes one feel worse than the other. I'm having a lot of painful popping in my right hip, especially when doing stairs (we have a 2 level home)and afterward. Has anyone else had hip problems after their tkr's? Thanks for reading this and for sharing your thoughts/experiences. Dee
Guest guest
Hi, just a quick update since seeing my os today. He took x-rays and found that my right hip is significantly displastic. He said I was probably born like that but have not had much problems because my muscles would hold the hip in place. Since I've had a lot of knee pain for over a year and have given up many " normal " activities in addition to having both knees replaced 2 months ago, my muscles have really wasted away so I have no help in holding the ball in the very shallow socket. I now have bursitis in that hip and he gave me a steroid shot and told me to take it easy for a couple of days and keep it iced. I have another appt. next Friday to see how things are going. He thinks that maybe as I continue to progress after my surgery that I'll get stronger and build more muscle and hopefully this will be all I need for now. Thanks for listening! Guest guest
Hi Dee, Are you replying to me? If so, that is what I plan on doing. I was waiting for after Christmas and I think I just need a break from doctors for a short time. I was in PT for almost a year and doctor appt after doctor appt. It just gets so old and I feel like I was beating myself with a wet noodle in the way I was not getting anything done to help. I’ve also got a huge work project that I’m working on and my time off is lacking for now…even my off time is full with work sneaking in. Once that project is finished, I can think about getting the knees and hips going again. Last May, before the scope surgery on both knees, I did go get a second opinion. That doc said to go ahead with the scope and give it one year. If there is little to no improvement he said he would like to see me again. He also said he thinks quality of life is more important than my age. So, as much as having joint replacements done right now would not be good timing with the rest of my life, it might have to be done regardless of what else I’ve got going on.
