This series was recommended by a parent in another group.

It looks like a good series.

Specialized Tools for

Improving Peer Relationships

TD Social Skills has produced Fitting In And Having Fun, the first in an original and professionally designed video teaching series. It was inspired by the urging from parents of children with autism and Asperger’s. It is also the byproduct of valued encouragement from fellow professionals and teachers with whom I have worked.

For children to develop into happy, independent adults, my strong belief is that they must learn how to be socially competent.

From the beginning I have created many of my own materials and curriculum to teach social skills to high functioning, mainstreamed children. My individual approach was borne of necessity. There was not much information out there when I started in this field 15 years ago.

While I now supervise many programs, I still work in the trenches, shadowing some children, running social skills classes, and implementing peer-modeling programs. My personal involvement helps me to continually come up with real-life-situation solutions to social issues.

In the past I created homemade video modeling tapes as a teaching tool. While I have found that this method has helped these children to better understand the complexities of many social exchanges, those basic videos were time consuming to create and used mostly adult models.

This is why I am both proud and excited to introduce Fitting In And Having Fun a social skills videotape geared toward elementary school-age children. Twenty percent of the net proceeds from the sale of the tape will be donated to Alpine Learning Group.
