Guest guest
Happy New Year everyone! I am new to this group. My mother has had both her hips relaced. The first hip was replaced several years ago (3 or 4) and she has had not issues. The other hip was replaced in May. Since then it has dislocated 3 times. Once around the beginning of November 07 the second mid November and again today. The first time her hip dislocated she was sitting in her chair. The second time she was putting on her boot (though she may have caused it by her angle). Today she was in bed resting. She is not " over doing it " as one doctor suggested. She has been on a walker since the last time it dislocated. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Guest guest
Hello: I am sorry about your mother and wonder how old she is. I had one hip in 1998 replaced, the other 3 years ago. I have had no problems what so over. Have been walking and riding my bike without problems or pain till up to last September when one of my knees started acting up. I am sure this should not happen as riding my bike entails swinging my leg over a bar by standing on one leg and also getting of it. I am 61. Hope this can be taken care of other than bed rest. chadwick_i wrote: Happy New Year everyone! I am new to this group. My mother has had both her hips relaced. Guest guest
My Mom is 72. She was really active after her first hip surgery. This hip was installed a different way and she has not be near as active since this surgery. Everytime it dislocates she does less and less in fear that she will put it out again. Which is the worst thing she can do. I have been encouraging her to excercise and try and strengthen the muscles. Thanks! Irene > > > > Happy New Year everyone! Guest guest
Have her walk…slowly at first building up over time. She does need to see a doctor though. Having it dislocate that often is not good. Guest guest
Happy New Year all you bionics.... My Dad has had 5 replacements!....that being said, it would have been only 4, except that the 4th hip replacement when he was 79 turned out to be a defective hip, and after several months of wearing a brace from his calf to his armpit, they redid it. He will be turning 90 this summer, and since the replaced replacement, he has had no problems. I know I'm a chip off the old block, but let's hope that my up and coming replacement will not be one of the defective ones. Lisel
