Guest guest
Sherry, I would just go get a simple blood test from your GP. That should tell you whether what you are feeling is viral or a possible infection. An infection can start any time after a joint replacement, even at 5 years post op. I wouldn't be too worried, but it doesn't hurt to relieve your stress. Let us know how you go. x -- soreness below knee Nine weeks after knee surgery, which was about Sunday or Monday of this week I noticed some new soreness below the scar and a little swelling. Today the soreness seems to have spread. I have not been feeling well but thought I had a virus. Now, I am not so sure. Are you supposed to get an antibiotic for infections. My grandkids have been sick and they got antibiotics. I know that we get them before dental work but what about for other things. And, if the knee was to get an infection, wouldn't it have happened sooner than this. I am a nurse and should know but I don't or I've forgotten. I cannot do my exercises due to the soreness. Also, how long do we continue with the exercises? Lots of questions, sorry. SherryHH ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Why would she call her GP? i always thought if the problem had anything to do with the knee ( or hip) or with side effects from any of the daily ordereded medication prescribed even for up to 9 weeks by the OS that that would be something to be reported to and treatment determined by the OS. Now inam confused. L > > Sherry, > I would just go get a simple blood test from your GP. Guest guest
My going home ortho doc instructions were to call the office number iff i have any concerns or questions. The office recording of course states as they all do, if it is an emergency to call 911 otherwise leave a message and wait for a call back, L > > > > Sherry, > > I would just go get a simple blood test from your GP. Guest guest
well watever your instructions are do them ? I don't know the protocol for every surgeon. I am just saying what I would so since going to my surgeon is 4 hours each way and if its nothing then I have saved myself a trip if it is something then my GP would tell me and I would high tail it to Brisbane. everyone has different instructions, -- soreness below knee > > Nine weeks after knee surgery, which was about Sunday or Monday of this week > I noticed some new soreness below the scar and a little swelling. Guest guest
Sherry, what you are describing would scare the daylights out of me and I would be on the phone to the surgeon. Infections do happen and if it settles on the implant it does a bit more than ruin your day.
