Guest guest
My surgeon told me it takes a whole year to be completely healed. I'm hoping mine doesn't take that long. It's been 8 weeks and I still feel like I am carrying around a baseball in my thigh. Ugh! I've also noticed that sitting at work all day makes it more stiff. I'm fortunate though because I'm able to go home every night and swim then sit in the hot tub afterward. This past week the resistance bands have been upped to the top end of difficulty and I've noticed the difference in terms of pain. I'm being pushed now to make the muscles grow more intensely which is probably good, but has brought back some pain with it. I even stayed home from work two days ago because I got that deep bone pain back and was not about to sit all day at work feeling it. I'm hoping next week will see some more strength increasing. You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. Joint Replacement From: barbmch@... I have been taking 1500 mg Canadian amoxicillin each day to fight a sinus, pollen problem. I get it this time every year when the tree pollen starts drifting. I used to control it with chloro trimeton but that quit helping. I wonder if the amoxicillin helped reduce the burning in my hip. My OS said it takes one year for the knee replacement to heal also. Guest guest
I still have numbness down the side of my leg, anterior approach,,it use to be down a long ways but now only 5 inches maybe... other hip, posterior approach,, numb on the whole side, down the leg a touch,,, but better then it use to be.  I don't even worry about that.. in the days of old had my gall bladder out,, scar about 10 inches long and there is a small section that never did get the feeling back... For me the walking helped  and once i could take longer strides it seemed like the knot /ball feeling went away faster. Barbara ________________________________ From: RENEE WEAL <goddessrenee@...> Joint Replacement Surgery Sent: Thursday, May 26, 2011 12:34 PM Subject: RE: forgot to post I'm thinking my numbness isn't so common. Guest guest
I could stand flat footed 3 weeks after the surgery as I was not suppose to put full weight on the leg/legs until then,,, but I could not walk that way, I leaned over somewhat until I got to use a cane.  Used a walker and crutches, then went to a cane.  Cane came about 6 weeks after surgery, and then my PT had me do heel/toe and think about walking normal.  It took me some time and I know others that they didn't have any problem with walking normal. I was still limping somewhat at 3 months after surgery, but I don't limp now at 5 months.   Barbara ________________________________ From: <tschwarz@...> " Joint Replacement " <Joint Replacement > Cc: " Joint Replacement " <Joint Replacement > Sent: Thursday, May 26, 2011 2:31 PM Subject: Re: forgot to post  How long before u could stand straight up flatfooted?
