Health Headlines: Garden Hose Water, Food Portions Some Garden Hoses Contain Lead POSTED: 5:21 p.m. EDT June 6, 2003 UPDATED: 5:23 p.m. EDT June 6, 2003 The water your children or pets are drinking from the garden hose may be a health hazard, Local 4's Lila Lazarus reported. Experts say some garden hoses contain substances including lead that can get into the water when it flows through the hose. Lead is especially dangerous for children and pets, according to reports. Officials say to check warning labels which typically indicate if the chemical is used. Some hose labels indicate if they are safe for drinking water.
