Guest guest
A parent asks: If she should use vitamin supplementation after having her child on a nutritious dietary intervention for a month. *Important note about calcium and the eyes. See below. My Reply: I still have my son on a list of supplements because I still don't know what he is or is not absorbing in nutrition. Also because our kids don't eat a wide variety of foods or all the foods offered we still need to depend on additional vitamin supplementation. (you can make the most nutritious diet for your child but they have to eat and then absorb the nutrition.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vitamins and Minerals especially calcium are the life source of health and healing. I recently experienced a real life situation that tells me that I need vitamins and mineral supplementation. I had been not taking any supplements or calcium for a while and recently had a bad flair with both sinus problems and then TMJ pain. Both problems were excruciatingly painful. I decided to try taking extra calcium for a few days and start back on my multivitamins. Today is the 4th day and I feel great most all the pain is gone and I feel like myself again. I believe I was calcium deficient. I'm finding that Calcium is much more beneficial to our health than just to promote healthy bones. It seems to be involved in immune system health as well. *Important note about calcium and the eyes. If your child is often rubbing or poking their eyes try adding extra calcium to their menu. Add some at each meal. I use Kirkmans Powdered Calcium that I sprinkle on his foods. This calcium almost tasteless and is easily absorbed because it is already broken down. There is also special calcium for the sensitive person that is more absorbable called Calcium Bis-glycinate that can be ordered from Kirkman Labs. (if your child continues to rub or poke their eyes after trying the extra calcium for a few days see an eye doctor). ~n
