Guest guest
Wow!! I am so sorry that your family has taken this stand against you. I think it's sad that they can't see that this will help you. I haven't had the surgery, so I don't know about your driving question. Sorry From: daugherty.sarah@...Date: Fri, 8 Jan 2010 03:59:33 +0000Subject: Driving I'm getting the sleeve done on Monday and I'm debating on driving myself. My mom was going to take me but she is strongly opposed to me getting the surgery......She initially supported me but apparently she spoke to a woman in the grocery store who told her it was a bad idea (I'm shaking my head). Anyway, long story short, she is not going with me now. Is it realistic of me to think that I can drive myself? Has anyone else done it? I am about 3 hours away. I can probably find someone else to take me but I'm just done with everyone being so unsupportive. My brother told me that he doesn't condone what I am doing and that he won't be calling me until after I am back. He told me that I should join a gym and save my money, etc. I am so surprised and hurt by their negative attitudes. Hotmail: Trusted email with powerful SPAM protection. Sign up now. Guest guest
Any problem with driving to San Diego, using long term airport parking and letting Ernesto take you to and from the hospital? I don't know at all if this will work for you but it's a thought. It's what I do..... I also get a hotel in SD because I just hate not having a PLACE to turn around in going to and coming home. There are MANY hotels on Pacific Highway near the airport. I stay at the Pacific Inn but don't let them put you in the back by the RR tracks! Up front or nothin'! Guest guest
Not sure where you are driving from - my dad and I are coming from Los Angeles and plan to park our car in a long term lot at the airport ($10/day) and meet Ernesto there for the drive into Mexicali. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who responded. It looks like I'm not going to have to drive myself but it helped to know that it was an option. My dad isn't comfortable with me making the drive home and he's taking time off work to drive me to and from. I leave in the morning. The anticipation is killing me! I will be sure and let everyone know how it goes. Thanks again! > > I'm getting the sleeve done on Monday and I'm debating on driving myself. Guest guest
Just the Law in this country you can't drive for six weeks after most major surgeries. I guess the reflex thing must be part of it, if you do drive and have a prang, then you aren't covered. -- Re: surgery Well shoot, I don't want my first post-op drive to be to the hospital for the NEXT hip! What is the problem mostly? Inability to move fast and slam on brakes should the need arise? ------------------------------------
