Guest guest
Hi Chris! Great to hear from you too! Glad your children are doing well. That is so amazing how your 2 year old learned to read like Gail's 3 year old did. so you guys have alot in common, how neat! My son Davey is 5 years old. He's starting to learn reading with color words like red, blue, yellow, orange. He loves to use crayons. I was so thrilled to see that he wrote out the words red and blue today! Well, I really think we should get together with Gail and the other members in this group! I'm going to plan a Mom's night out for next month in June. That will be great. About Organized sports I took my son to the Little Gym and it's a great place to start out for beginners. It's geared toward pre-schoolers and it's alot of fun. I was allowed to attend the class with my son to help guide him to stay involved in the class. It worked out pretty Good. Well, I'd best get going...it's late..I lost track of the time...12:02am midnight...) Take Care, n marottafamily@... writes: Hi n and Gail! My name is , and I have a 5 year old son with hyperlexia and ASD. I've heard hyperlexia defined as precious reading and I've heard it described as a fascination with letters and numbers. Either way, a child with hyperlexia usually has PDD in some way or another. In talking with other mothers, I am surprised by how many other children seem to have hyperlexia. Bobby taught himself to read as well, when he was 2. My son will be starting kindergarten in the fall. I also have 2 younger NT children, a three year old son, Ian, and a one year old, Yoli. Gail, I agree with you when you say the younger NTs are like little therapists! Ian has helped Bobby tremendously when it comes to playing skills!! One thing that I am considering starting with my son is some sort of organized sport or instructional sport lessons. He did have "swimming lessons" at school this past year where the focus was mostly on getting comfortable in the water. I was wondering if anyone had success with team sports, like soccer, or if it would be better focus on individual sports like swimming or gymnastics. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi n. We went a birthday party at the Little Gym and both my boys had a great time! I did have to encourage Bobby to join in, but once he did, he was fine. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the tip! Guest guest
Hi , Your son must be doing well with all the interventions. Wow, he's well on his way! I was thinking of that B12 shot for myself to aide with this sinus problem I have. I've been getting reacurring infections. Speaking of Transdurmal chelation. The DAN doctor in Westlake I am seeing also does transdurmal chelation. A Cream is used at night. I'm still yet doing research on the benefits of transdurmal vs oral chelation before I procede with chelation for my son. I think the least invasive may be less stressful on the body with the transdurmal but I don't know for sure all the pros and cons. I'll be learning more at the AutismOne conference this coming weekend. It will be great to meet you also when we get together for Mom's Night Out! We have to do this! I'll be planning after I come back from the conference. ~ n laurabphillips@... writes: Hello everyone! My name is and I just joined the group a few weeks ago, but while we are doing introductions I thought I would reintroduce myself too. My son Sam is 4 years old and was diagnosed with mild to moderate autism about a year ago. We live in Shaker Heights. I have another son , who is 17 months old and as far as we can tell, NT. With Sam we are doing ABA at home, he is on the GFCF diet, and we are supplementing with Super Nu-Thera, zinc, DMG, probiotics. We also give him an injection of methylcobalamin (a form of vit. B12) every third night. We are considering chelation and have an appointment with a doctor in North Carolina that does a new protocol using transdermal DMPS. I would LOVE to meet everyone in person! A Mom's night sounds like fun. I am certain that we all deserve one!
