, I am floored by this drift. Do you really have all those big birds flying

around? I'm put off by the wood pigeons in the large conifer out my bedroom

window. The noise from them and the other LITTLE birds at dawn is deafening. I

can't imagine macaws out my window. I imagine the cats would love it, though.

Oh Gosh Joan,

Yes we do, but we have really large Kookaburras; they make a terrible din,

but I like to hear them they start at about 4 am.

Here have a listen http://www.youtube

com/watch?v=mnsSxzr7C_k & feature=related

I love all natures sounds..

yes well cats and dogs are our native wildlife disaters, we keep all our

animals in, t(hey get the run of the back yard of course.) so they can't get

wildlife but many people don't its against the law to let your pet roam the

streets.. enforcing it is another thing.

Well they certainly are beautiful. I always associated large, colorful birds

with rain forests. Shows you what a city girl doesn't know. Even one who

spends her summers with sheep!

Thanks for the pictures. The birds really are gorgeous. BUT, what sounds do

they make at dawn?

Joan

I read the other email first. Yes, I can imagine the din! And I also an

imagine that cats and dogs are a threat. We tend to keep cats in in New York,

but for the other reason. We have raccoons, possums and rats that are a threat

to small domesticated animals. Here in England, however, most cats do go out,

but there are fewer small animal predators. There are raptors, of course, but

unlike NYC, they tend not to nest in towns. Different places, different

species!
