I'm scheduled for a total hip replacement in 10 days and I've gotten worried a

bout the NY Times articles on increasing numbers of complaints about equipment

failure. My surgeon was very highly recommended so I would like to think that

means he uses the sort of replacement that is not being complained about, but

the office seemed not even to have heard to the Times stories when I call to

get reassurance.

Any perspective on this out there? How worried should I be?
