Guest guest
The reason I didn't qualify for the anterior approach is because I had Such a huge amount of metal in the joint area, apart form the hip itself. I had a huge cage that was holding this hip in its place, along with, a massive bone graft due to a fractured pelvis. The cage had broken. I was extremely lucky I didn't need a new cage he thought I would. -- Re: restrictions The second surgeon that I went to see does only the Direct Anterior approach He told me that I didn't qualify for that type of surgery... because of the way my leg fits into the hip... because of the angle I would have to have it done by the Lateral approach. He also said that because of the angle the leg goes in I needed a different type of prosthesis then what he uses... I needed one that the ball could be adjusted. So no not everyone qualifies for that type of approach. I wish I did. My surgery is scheduled for July 20th and I am getting very nervous. ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Well this certainly isn't the norm then. I think that most people qualify for direct anterior approach. Your situation sounds unique in that you have other things going on as well.
