Sabra,

My TKR was a year ago and my knee has no pain now. That is, the joint has no pain, but of course sometimes the muscles and tendons around the knee joint can be stiff or a little painful. I do continue to exercise and walk but nothing specific to the PT I had after the surgery. I do still have osteoarthritis in other joints so I still have pain other places. I mean obviously the metal joint can't have pain but everything attached wasn't replaced and you could be having pain in the remaining bone from OA.

I would suggest some sort of low-impact exercise which is recommended for OA to keep joints loose and warm. Also, some Tylenol and icing the painful area.

I had my TLKR surgery onMay 9, 2007. Everything went so well and I am so thankful for a Christian doctor who prayed before the surgery.Only now after all this time seems my replaced knee is hurting. My doctor said he never did a knee replacement with a knee that was so destroyed by arthritis as mine was. He said it now looks beautiful and it does work wonderfully. My only complaint is that it kind of now feels like it has arthritis again. Is this possible? I'm really worried about this.Perhaps I quit doing my exercises too soon. It has been about 3 months since I quit doing the exercises. What do you all think about this? Do you all think I should still be doing the exercises? Thanks for taking the time to read this and I will be only most happy to answer any questions you all might have about the surgery. Thanks, Sabra

Well, you know, it is winter where I live in West Virginia. Last

week it was 4 degrees above zero and today it was in the high 60's.

Weather changes do tend to make my arthritis flare up. I have

decided to start all my home exercises again as I think I may have

quit them way too soon. I joined Curves a couple of months ago and

after using the machines which did not hurt me, we sat on the floor

and did stretches.

I do think I stretched way too far. So when I return to Curves I

will be more careful about stretching farther than is advisable.

Thanks for answering and giving me some idea what you think. I hate

to run to the doctor everytime I feel pain.

Thanks,

Sabra
