Guest guest
Did you have an anterior approach? I've ben stalling on having both hips replaced, and an injection into the worst one yesterday may let me stall some more. That said, I'm also in PT to get whipped into the best shape possible pre-op. Weight isn't an issue, but the pain from hips and some back issues has had me " walking small " and avoiding much walking at all, so...got a couple PTs trying to kill me. (Actually it' s not bad, can't say as I like it but I've missed being in top shape.) judith (Oh, and no way I'm having anything other than an anterior approach, I simply know myself well enough to know I would not be able to abide by the restrictions of the traditional approach. No way. I live alone for starters, and well..again...I'd end up doing damage, I just cannot manage those restrictions for the amount of time required.) In a message dated 5/27/2011 12:02:08 A.M. At 4 weeks out I'm walking better than I have and without any support. I'm back at work and the hardest part is the sitting for 8 hours. Even with the dysplasia that made the replacement a little tricky my leg length is good. I'm sure there are going to be ups and downs, but so far the ups are far outweighing the downs. I'm truly amazed where I'm at a month later. Thanks for everyone's input and guidance before the surgery. Sincerely, Chris THR 4-2011 ------------------------------------ Be your own advocate! Guest guest
Congrats Chris! You sound just like I was at 4 weeks. The first week back was the hardest. Did you have direct anterior approach? My best advice is keep up with the physical therapy. I've noticed huge changes by keeping up with this. I think they are going to have me go another month, which I welcome because of the benefits. You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. Joint Replacement From: crexjacobs@...
