" Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! " " !! You should

be SOOOO proud of yourself and how well you have done!!! Congrats!!!

It is SOOOOO GREAT to hear SOOOO many postive things about Dr. R

!! We all appreciate him so much but I also know that he has gone through

ALOT of negatives over the past few years and I think it would be WONDERFUL

if some of us got together and had a special plaque made that Tricia and

Dana could place in his office? What do people think? I own a jewelry store

and could get one at cost and people interested in having their name put on

it could just donate toward it. I know it is not much but he is SOOO AWESOME

that I think it is important that we let him know that we appreciate all he

has went through with BC/BS and - yet he is still out there

help us.

Yes - he gets paid but I worked as a nurse for 20 years and believe me there

ARE NOT many like Dr.

Anyone interested in my suggestion can email me at

Keep up the good work !

undies are finally in the single digits!!!!!! I can bend over and tie my

missing for so many years, I never thought I would find it again.

Joint Replacement

Subject: One Year Anniversary!!

Today is the one year anniversary of my bilateral knee replacement!  It is hard

to believe it has been a whole year.  The surgery, pain, rehab, pain, pt visits,

pain, are all done.  Yes, I still have stiffness now and then, but the pain I

had prior to the surgery just is not there anymore!

I saw my surgeon last week and he was impressed with my range of motion.  The

left knee was 130 and the right about 120.  The right has always been a bit

stiffer.  However, the left knee is the one that crunches when I get up from a

low chair.  No pain - just crunching.  He said it is probably the kneecap

rubbing on something and was not concerned.

Unfortunately I forgot to get x-rays done to bring in, so I will do that next

week.  Not that there is anything wrong, but just to keep tabs on everything

inside. I will see him again in a year, unless there is something that comes up.

For those who are deciding whether or not to have a replacement done, OR if you

are debating about having them both done at the same time, I highly recommend

either scenarios.  If you are even visiting this site, you obviously are

considering a knee or hip replacement (I had a hip done, too in 2007).  Having

them done at the same time was hard, but I sincerely do NOT think I could have

done the rehab on one knee with other " good " knee - they were both SO horrible.

Best of luck to those who are about to have surgery or are still recovering!

Good to hear! Well obviously not the allergic reaction part, but the rest of

it! By :walking some " do you mean as exercise, or just to get around the house?

Sure, I'll be going through this myself soon enough, so am interested in how you

are doing, and if others have already been through it, I'm sure they might have

some helpful suggestions. I've been doing PT ahead of time in the hopes that

will help with a fast rebound, but time will tell on that.

Right hip is totally shot. Had some back issues in the past causing some truly

dazzling pain, and while surgery cleaned that up, the hip pain was still a

problem, and one shot of cortisone in my right hip did more to DX the pain

source than any of the MRIs and such.

I had complete and total relief from bone-on-bone pain for about four weeks,

then another few weeks of " well worth it " relief after that. Pain management

doctor asked if I wanted to try it as a diagnostic as much as anything to answer

the lingering questions about how much was back and how much was hip.

Worked well enough for a second shot into the right hip (which is already

destroyed, nothing left to damage really) and one into the left hip, which is

not quite as bad but also at least due, if not overdue, for replacement.

I'm 65 and one of those puzzling folks...no family history of arthritis (and I

come from a long-lived family,) and never have had any weight issues. Just not

much hip cartilage to begin with I guess.

Has anyone ever gotten out of the hospital the day after surgery?
