Guest guest
Hi Goldie, I had my right hip replaced a day after had hers done. I waited so long that I was to the point that I could not stand long enough to wash my dinner dishes, walk to the mailbox, or hardly stand long enough to shower.....the surgery type pain is nothing compared to the before surgery pain.....each day improves instead of deteriorates your condition......Don't be scared. Things only get better.......BARB in Florida Newbie needing hip Hi Goldie. if I can help in any way just shout.. Barb and I had hips done a day apart, nearly 7 months ago, it was Barb's first hip, but my 5th, so she can give you the perspective as going in for the first time. its 18 years since I had the first done.I'm on rounds 2, 3 and 4. but hope we can help you.. x ------------------------------------

Guest guest
It's impressive just HOW much pain a bad hip can cause, I'd always pictured it as oh, I don't know, sort of an ache. I'm curious..I've been off this board for a while..hpow many folks have had anterior approaches AND the bass-ackward version as well? My pain management doctor's 85-year old mother had the old style replacement a few years ago, but had an anterior replacement on her other leg earlier this year, and she says " The new leg already hurts less than the old one still hurts. " (She's also 85 years old.) judith In a message dated 5/30/2011 10:51:11 P.M. Guest guest
In my case it came from my pain management doctor. The hip injection from him was also partly diagnostic, since I have some spine issues that could have caused some of this pain. The PTs wrere betting (correctly as it turned out) " hips. " . I've got Humana Medicare Advantage insurance, and it's covering this for 6-8 weeks anyway. But it's coming in under pain management, not pre-op, FWIW. judith In a message dated 6/1/2011 6:33:47 P.M.
