Guest guest
Hello Everyone! I haven't been here for several months, spend the summer in Chicago with my mom. Then in September, I got on a hamster wheel trying to get abdominal surgery which just happened 4 weeks ago. My hip replacement done 10/09 still has me limping, due to my muscle problem and a knee problem. Finally, the knee has become as painful as my hip was prior to surgery. It doesn't want to bend, it constantly " pops " when I walk and then swells up; when I sit, I have to stand for a while to get it to bend and sometimes it doesn't want to bear weight. Saw a new surgeon today, Dr. Tony Aram, who said TKR has to be sooner rather than later, so I'm scheduled for 24 March. He doesn't use a CPM, he does use computer navigation and will do the minimally invasive procedure. Now, he told me having a spinal greatly aids in lessening pain right after surgery. Has anyone been told this? He also uses an Aquacel dressing so I can take showers right after surgery. And he uses surgical glue, and just one stitch at the top and one at the bottom of the incision. Because he considers me " complicated " he agreed I should go to inpatient rehab, so that will be in the works close to surgery time. His surgical scheduler had both knees replaced and she overexercised the knee and went from 100 d flexion to 60, to then he had to get her a CPM. He only uses it for knee revision. I think this is going to be my 19th surgery...and probably the one I wish didn't have to happen! I've become a weenie in my old age. Hope everyone has been doing well, and that you had happy holidays! Oh Happy Valentine's Day! Lynn THR Oct
