Met a wonderful woman at church last November a few weeks before my TKR.

Back then she was 4 months post op from her TKR, and was going to a

doctor that is in practice with mine. She really boosted my confidence

then, and continued to do so today. I am now 2 1/2 months and she is

almost 7 months post op. She told me that somewhere around the 6 month

mark that the pain level went way down for her, and that she almost

doesn't think about it anymore. She has absolutely no limp or wobble to

her gait now! It was so generous and thoughful of her to reach out and

give me a boost of confidence. I'm such an impatient person. I know

things will continue to get better, and that having the TKR was the best

thing to do. I just want it all better RIGHT NOW.

Weather in Texas has finally taken a turn for the warm. We had mid 60's

yesterday, and high 60's today. Not a cloud in sight. I'm off to the

pool for arthritis water aerobics tomorrow. I just wish I could find an

arthritis and joint replacement support group with people in thier 40's.

Since joint replacement and oa usually hit people after all thier kids

are grown and gone, I have no one that understands how hard it is to

recover from all this with 4 kids - a 14, 12, 11 and 4 year old -

needing me to be up and running at 110%. They're all very

understanding, and are trying thier best to help out while I'm

recooperating and rehabing - but it's starting to really show how much

they need mom back in action.

Don't we all! But it takes time. At least I didnt have the pressure of a

young family to deal with, and my husband was already retired, and able to

do a lot of 'looking after' for both myself and our daughter who was also

unwell at the time. I hope you and your children will be patient enough to

wait a little longer, otherwise you might set your progress back a bit!

Your warmer weather sounds lovely - we're still a bit chillyhere.
