Airtimes are 8:10 EST and 9:10 EST; Wednesday's segments willfocus on intervention approaches, and, later each day that week, MSNBCwill feature live interviews.ASA professionals, including members of its National Board ofDirectors and Panel of Professional Advisors, as well as key ASAleaders President & CEO Lee Grossman and ASA Board Chair Pratt, Ph.D., are consulting with NBC producers as they develop storycontent.The show plans to feature Harvey, son of ASA Board MemberElaine Harvey. Harvey, who is a 38-year-old with autism, livesin Huntington, West Virginia and is one of several hundred clients ofthe Autism Services Center, a center founded 25 years ago by RuthChrist Sullivan, Ph.D. In 1968, Sullivan became ASA'sfirst elected president.In addition, the CDC is scheduled to kick off of "Learn theSigns. Act Early," a major nationwide campaign designed toincrease early diagnosis and early intervention for autism through theCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and led by Director Gerberding, M.D., M.P.H. Lee Grossman, along with Cordero, M.D., M.P.H., Assistant Surgeon General and Director ofthe CDC's National Center on Birth Defects and Disabilities, areworking closely together to mobilize autism community leaders toparticipate in this event. In the upcoming weeks, ASA will reach out to local ASA chapters andencourages them to contact their local affiliate to do their own pieceon autism in conjunction with the series.
