Guest guest
I have a theory about this. I am increasingly able to kneel on the artificial knee, but I think that¹s because I¹m killing off the nerves in the skin. If I can do it, I¹m sure you can too. But not at two weeks! Guest guest
funny this should come up. My knees are 9 years old. I was told not to kneel at the beginning. I was just at my ortho for my 2 year checkup and asked him about kneeling. He said it wouldn't do any damage but it would hurt. It is uncomfrotable. I don't plan on spending a lot of time kneeling. I was just concerned about putting weight on the knee as i got up from laying or sitting on the floor. For that, it's not a big deal. Don't even think about squating though. Guest guest
Oh No... no squatting for me, haven't been able to that since having the hips done. Guest guest
My knee is almost 30 yrs old (eww) with a revision on it about 18 yrs ago. No problems squatting. And no problems kneeling on it at all. I wonder if the different types of prothesis' result in being able to kneel or not. Guest guest
Yeah, that's what I thought. It really makes gardening difficult. Guest guest
Yes Joan, you are right 4 hips on the left, and one on the right, the knee wouldn't stop me from squatting. wouldn't stop me from anything come to that. mary -- Re: TKR and kneeling I can squat. Guest guest
Another good question. As I don;t know what kind of knee I have, I have no answer. I just don't kneel. Guest guest
Hi Bill, Due to back problems I was never able to kneel with any comfort but can do it easier now with new knee, May '09, then ever before. But at 2 weeks you have plenty of time before you should be thinking of that. Just keep working hard at pt and you'll get there. Guest guest
I started with a soft surface and used that for a while. Then harder and harder surfaces. Kneel as long as you can. I¡¯m assuming this works because I¡¯m killing nerves. I cant think of any other reason. Guest guest
Hi all, I had my TKR done on 10/6/10. After the surgery my doctor made a point of saying that I could kneel on my knee when it healed because he was able to reuse my own kneecap. I think I went to church for the first time after surgery at about three weeks and had only minimal discomfort in the knee. Guest guest
But surely, there's foam, or something, out there that would insulate an artificial knee from the concrete floor....... Or, have I missed something in the " kneeling " discusion. Bill (again ================================================================= > > Had a TKR two weeks ago. Guest guest
I had a partial knee done one year and 2 months ago, and it still kills me to try to kneel.
