Guest guest
Some of the newist viruses may not be dectable by a virus scanner because it's too new so it's best to keep aware of what is new and to avoid them. Heres the latest: Saddam Hussein is not dead. So if you get an e-mail claiming that he is dead with photographic evidence that he was killed following an attempted escape from custody, do not fall for it. It's a PC virus. This is the latest incidence of attackers using well-known figures as the bait. Previously, they have tried to lure victims with sexy photos of Kournikova, Britney Spears, , and . This new ploy is called the Bobax.H worm, which purports to offer photos that show that the former Iraqi leader was killed during a bungled attempt to escape from custody. "It's a brand new virus that converts users' PCs into spam factories," Graham Cluley, a Sophos senior security consultant, told ZDNet. "Although it hasn't reached epidemic proportions yet, it is spreading." Tips for spotting the Bobax worm in your e-mail box: --The body of the message varies, but can include "Saddam Hussein - Attempted Escape, Shot dead. Attached some pics that i found" or this: "Osama Bin Laden Captured. Attached some pics that i found." --The attached files, which carry the viral code, have a number of different file names but will end with these extensions: PIF, SCR, EXE or ZIP. The Bobax worm spreads via e-mail and affects PCs running Microsoft Windows. It propagates when the e-mail attachment is downloaded and then opened. The worm then tries to forward itself to other e-mail addresses and vulnerable computers. It will also attempt to disable antivirus and security software and install an e-mail relay module that will turn the PC into a spam factory so it can forward itself to other e-mail address found on the infected machine. Bobax.H takes advantage of the same flaw used by the Sasser worm 10 months ago; there is a patch available for this Windows security breach.
