Guest guest
,I'm sorry the weight is not coming off faster for you. How frustrating. We would love to help you. Are you willing to share your food journal? That can be a first step to look at what is going in. My first thoughts with out any more info, is that you need a fill - if you can eat more than 1 1/2 cups of food. You are getting stuck because you aren't chewing enough or eating foods that aren't so band friendly. These are just some ideas but until I know how much of what you are eating it is just a guess. Let me know if I can help. Cyrena Weight loss Help. I had the lap band surgery in July of 07. I have only lost 37 pounds so far. I am very frustrated. I have always been able to hold alot more than a cup and a half. Things still get stuck very easily and I am very tight in the morning. I have had two fills. My metabolism is very slow. It doesn't matter what I eat, when I eat, how much or how little, I just go back and forth with the same 2 to 3 pounds. One week I will lose it and the next week I gain it. I keep a food log every day. I exercise 3-4 times a week but nothing is coming off. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Guest guest
....I agree with Cyrena. I suspect you need a fill and you need to chew better. It really does come down to calories in/calories out. Slow metabolism or not, if you don't burn more than you eat you won't lose. Cut out white carbs completely, bump up exercise from a few times a week to every single day, get a fill, chew better, don't eat in the AMs. People swear they have to eat to kick in their metabolism and that is a load. If you eat you might bump up your metabolism to burn 20 calories an hour more but there are about 4 hours between breakfast and lunch, that means you burn 80 calories by eating in the AMs. How many people eat less than 80 calories for breakfast? You lose the benefit of an increased metabolism by the calories consumed. IOW, don't eat until you are hungry, stop when you are satisfied and NOT when you are full. If you are FULL you ate too much. Naturally thin people don't eat until they are full, they eat until they are no longer hungry. You shouldn't be eating more than 800 calories a day, if you can eat " a lot more " than 1.5 cups per meal, there is no way I can believe you are eating only 800 calories a day.If the above doesn't work I'd suggest getting a barium swallow to see if your pouch/esophagus are dilated. A band check up wouldn't hurt. No cake, cookies, pie, ice cream, bread, rice, pasta, none of it. Less food, more exercise, a better fill, and a check up. Guest guest
I didn't know about needing a fill.( I can't get one now anyway since I have to have a passport now.) Even after surgery and after my fills, when I could eat normal food again I have always been able to eat more that a cup and a half. I do watch the amount I eat, but it seems like I can eat and then an hour and a half to two hours later I am hungry again. I am not hungry in the mornings but with my work schedule, if I don't eat something when I first get up (4:30 am)I don't have the chance to eat anytime I want to. I understand not eating until you are hungry, but my job doesn't allow that. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place. I go to a weight loss class at my local hospital and the dietician freaked out when I told her I wasn't supposed to not eat more than 800 calories a day. She says there is no way I can get the nutrients I need with that little food. I have friends that have had the lap band done and they all say they can eat whatever they want, just not lots of it. They have lost alot of weight doing that but I can't seem to get anything off no matter how I eat. > > > Help. > > I had the lap band surgery in July of 07. I have only lost 37 pounds so > > far. Guest guest
Have you tried the plateau buster diet? 10 days straight: Drink 2 quarts of water each day 45 grams of protein supplement and all vitamins / minerals each day 3 oz of high protein foods each day (5 times each day)... High protein foods include: beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, fish, eggs, low fat cheese, cottage cheese, plain yogurt (can be artificially sweetened), peanut butter, beans / legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles, tea or coffee, sugar free jello, broths / bullion, crystal light drinks If it's not listed above, you can't have it. **** I have not tried this, I just saw it on the main board of OH and thought I'd pass it on. Guest guest
HIya I used Hoodia a few years ago, it wasn't too bad. Nothing marked really happened though as I have such a slow metabolism I can eat very little and still not lose. I have to say that although I am very heavy and much of it is fat, I have a layer of mucin due to hypo which I am sure when that shifts will make me look a whole lot better. I retain everything darnit. Maybe when you are optimised on hormones you will drop some girth? Just a thought. lotsa luv Dawnx

Guest guest
Thanks Mand Thats very nice of you. Guest guest
I ave been releasing weight rather steadily for the last 4 months and I find I have some weeks where I see a difference on the scale and other weeks the scale doesn't move but my clothes and body just feel different. In addition I've " lost " some laziness, excuses, the desire to take the easy road, and the idea of me as a " fat girl " . at my half way point in my journey, 60 pounds gone, 60 more to release. Virginia weight " loss " I've recently released a few pounds, which is great! However, I woke up this morning to a slightly slimmer body, feeling like I've " lost " something. Such a strange feeling. Anyone felt this way before? I tried to ask myself " how would I like to feel instead? " but not sure if that's worked yet. Any ideas? Guest guest
Virginia, Thank you so much for posting this! I am at the exact same point, weight wise, on my journey as well. Exactly 60 pounds down with 60 to go. Yet I have been releasing my weight at a significantly slower, and bumpier pace. It has taken me about four years to notice where I am today. Yes, I know I have kept off a fluctuation of 40-60 pounds during that time, but it hasn't felt " right. " I haven't felt that click that makes me KNOW that I have changed. What is your secret to losing " laziness, excuses, the desire to take the easy road, and the idea of me as a 'fat girl'??? " I think my biggest struggle through all of this is NOT seeing myself as the " fat girl. " I know the scale says one thing, but my mind is still stuck somewhere else. Any suggestions? Help! Also, thank you everyone else in this group for your amazing shares. I know I hardly ever contribute, but I love reading and learning from what you all have to say. I'm extremely grateful! Guest guest
I also have this very same problem. No matter what, I feel like I did before I lost the weight. I still have 50-60 to go. I'm still amazed that I fit into smaller clothing and they fit well, but I still " feel " the same. And, if I have a bad day, I don't beat myself up over it, but I " feel " HUGE!!! Is there anything I can do to change those feelings? Interestingly, when I think of myself or dream, I am thin and have always been thin in my dreams. I've never dreamt of my self as I actually was. So this should not be too much of an issue, right? in pa mommy of 2 > > > > > > > > > > > I ave been releasing weight rather steadily for the last 4 months and I > > find I have some weeks where I see a difference on the scale and other weeks > > the scale doesn't move but my clothes and body just feel different. Guest guest
Yeah, I have to chime in there--me, too! I was looking at a photograph of myself on Sunday, after a 55.6 lb weight loss and thought, " Gee, Bev, what the heck did you look like before? " It's so frustrating, because I'm still 18 lbs. overweight and I am apple-shaped and have a 34 " waist. And to top it off, I just found at last week that I'm only 5 " 3' instead of 5' 3 3/4 " (I swear, I must have shrunk!), so I'm 18 lbs. overweight instead of 14 lbs. over. I know it's silly to care about, but my goal has always been to get to a " healthy " BMI. I know that I should be grateful that I'm a size 14 instead of a size 22, but some days I'm just annoyed that I'm still not at a healthy weight after 13 months. Ugggg..I know, I'm whining. Guest guest
Beg, it sounds like you have a target BMI and if you don't achieve it you are not healthy. Perhaps you need to adjust your expectations or your idea of good health. Here's my idea - go to the store and put in your shopping basket 11, five pound bags of sugar, flour, or potatoes. That's how much healthier you are!!! You rock!!!! Jenn In weightloss , " bevshahabdolldesigns " <bevshahabdolldesigns@...> wrote: > > Yeah, I have to chime in there--me, too! Guest guest
Good morning Bev. I also have this problem. I thought I was 5'4 " but was told that I'm actually 5'3 " . Where'd that extra inch that I was for all these years go?? I'm 37 so I don't think I'm shrinking yet. Oh, I think of the contraption my grandmother used to make herself taller! She was a small woman, I think if she was 5' she was lucky. I think their measuring system is off, that has to be it!!!! What do you say? Anyway, I also strive to have a healthy bmi, but when I look at where I need to be, according the guidelines, I have to loose more than I wanted, just to fit their healthy bmi!!! I'm in a 14 rather than an 18-20 and feel very good about that. I can fit into 'normal' sizes, and mediums!!! I don't even think I was a medium when I was in jr high!!!! But, I'm still considered obese according the the bmi indexes!!! I'd like to get to around 140, but according to the indexes, that's still overweight for me!!! If I'm in a 14 now and have 50 to go to reach my goal, I cannot possibly STILL be overweight at goal!!! It just cannot be possible. It's no wonder that we have so many eating disorders at the other (skinny) end of the spectrum!!! Chris Mommy of 2 in Pa.

It's no wonder that we have so many eating disorders at the other (skinny) end of the spectrum!!! Chris Mommy of 2 in Pa.
Guest guest
I think the BMI is good for getting you in the right neighborhood, but it can really be misleading if you've got muscle. When I was down to 142, I felt great, had lots of hard muscle, could run 3 miles. I would call that definitely healthy -- but I was still outside the healthy range on BMI. When you get to the healthy range (not BMI's definition, but your own body's), you'll know it because you'll feel it. (Sorry about the wrong pronoun earlier, Chris!) Joan > > Good morning Bev. Guest guest
Hi Vandy, It looks like your original question was never answered. My best guess would be that if you are feeling " loss " , it could be that original piece of you that resisted weight loss to begin with. In one of the early episodes (maybe someone else can help me out with which one) takes us through the guided imagery to discover that piece of us that is resistant, we thank it and let it know that we honor it's concern for us and that we'll work to find a way to keep us " safe " and still be able to release the weight. Maybe that piece of you is still not convinced that what you are doing is safe and is registering a " loss " ? Just a thought... Guest guest
Have you tried visually reinforcing your image of all the progress you've made? Have you trained yourself not to look below the shoulders in a mirror? I think one of the reasons for all the mirrors in a gym is that once you start making progress, it reinforces the motivation to keep going. Seeing your fitter self in the mirror is like a reward. When you say you " feel " huge -- is it a physical feeling or more like you automatically think of yourself as huge? If it's the latter, you could think of your situation like this: If you know someone who has a tattoo, and you're close to that person and see them all the time, after a while, you don't see the tattoo at all, you just see the person you've gotten to know. The tattoo is still there, but it's become an ingrained part of your image of the person, not a separate changing thing like clothes. The person you've gotten to know as yourself was larger, but that's changed now. Your brain is still going to the default image. Maybe you could do a private sort of reintroduction to yourself? Joan > > I also have this very same problem. So this should not be too much of an issue, right? > > in pa > mommy of 2 >
