Guest guest
Hi , I live in Ontario, Canada so cost really isn't an issue. My hip was originally replaced five years ago and than I felt pain in my lower back so I got x-rays a year after and after ct scans and an mri they noticed some shadows. Pain wasn't going away so surgeon went in to see what was going on and it was loosened so they replaced it. This time nothing shows up on the xrays the last time I saw him the ER department has to help me out of the car and onto a stretcher. Xrays still didn't show anything I talked to an er nurse and she said it sounds like late metal sensitivity which is pretty rare but I have all the signs including my first hip loosening for no reason at all (no accidents. no falls, not almost falls, etc). I looked it up which there really isn't much info for but she is right I have all the signs but I don't know how to bring it up to the surgeon since well he is the doctor so he knows more than me it could be anything right? And it don't help that the only cure is to replace all the metal parts with cermic and I have a metal/polyth (Sp?) so if it is that it is definitely another replacement. Last month was the last time I was sent to the er I got stuck at the disability office of all places and both paramedics swear that it felt like something had popped in the hip area. But by the time the er doctor saw me 5 hours later it seemed to have returned or whatever. The only problem I have with looking for another surgeon/opinion is that my surgeon teaches as well. Just like my surgeon when I was a kid/teen at sick kids when I looked for a second opinion the minute they heard the surgeon's name they declined to look at it and said he knew what he was doing. I am terrified of that happening again and my surgeon is really good I have seen many of his patients have hip replacements around the same time as me and everything is working the way it should, so I know it is just a matter of figuring out what is going wrong. Part of me is tempted to get ink for my printer and print the info and hand it to him at his fracture clinic. About the hip aspiration he took blood to do some testing last time I saw him, and I don't know how that turned out. He wouldn't look at the results until my next appointment anyway which is the hip aspiration and he wants a follow up a week after that to see the results. Maybe I will bug his secetary for the results, it is my file anyway so I should be allowed to know. Thanks for responding I guess I will call his office again after my dentist appointent that I have been putting off because my hip is so bad that I can't even do basic things like grocery shopping or going out for a quick dinner with friends without worrying about getting stuck. It is to the point it don't even embrrass me anymore, it just sucks. I was living on my own for the first time in my life for three months before they started up but I am back with my mom and she is tempted to hound him on the phone, she is about to blow her top on the doctor. Even the er department in two cities both agree that something isn't right but they say only my surgeon can tell me what is wrong (the hospital where I live isn't equiped for my hip/age). On a good note I had a little chocolate and I have mellowed a little lol.
Guest guest
OMG Contessia I am a loss as to what to suggest but I think you need to let him know this is no life and he must test you for metal sensitivity and anything else he can think of....if you have to have the metal replaced its better than what you are coping with right now ....keep us up to date Sent from Samsung mobile contessia <contessica03@...> wrote: > >Hi , I live in Ontario, Canada so cost really isn't an issue.
