I DID IT!! Gosh, do I feel better. The mom cried again but it was a good cry, not a bad one. I cried a little too. She had no idea what Liv had been through and when told, the tears started rollin….I think/hope we will become friends! We talked a lot about the situation on Monday and about a lot of other personal stuff too. She has her own set of huge problems to contend with (just like everyone on the planet) and I was surprised she was so open about all of it. I think explaining Livs situation really broke the ice. She was awesome and so was the principal. Saying sorry when you screwed up is da’ bomb…Especially, if its well received.

So relieved,

Good job, ! Isn't it funny how often when WE open up to someone else

about whatever it is that we might be dealing with at that time, often they

open up too - and I can't tell you how many times I've found out that someone

else was dealing with similar issues - maybe not EXACTLY the same ones, but like

you said everyone on the planet seems to have their share of challenges. I

would not be one bit surprised if you two did become friends :-)

Group, I just saw a link I supposedly posted to a Canadian pharmacy. I

anyone has any insight I sure would appreciate it.

Folks - these things happen - people steal your address book and post things that look like they came from you - it is relatively infrequent, but often results in your having to change your e-mail address -

Dear Pam,  I truly enjoy being a partof IPADD and sharing when I can.  Your

feelings and statements were heart felt and as I said earlier different

opinions

cause all of us to look at ourselves and why we feel the way we do about

different topics/issues.  Our life experiences shape our perception of the

world

and our political leanings.  I for one feel the list serve is enriched with

differing opinions.  Folks participating can read through the different

positions and decide for themselves what is right for them.

For me, I'm an independent voter with no allegiance to either party.  When

I vote I have a single issue in mind: Is my daughter going to better

off or worse off with this person in office " .  To be fair and honest, I should

add that  leads more often to a Democratic vote but not always.

The topic of taxes can be emotionally charged and I hope the recent back and

forth of emails does not have a chilling effect on people speaking their minds.

I have a great respect for Marchand who until recently was director of

Arc's Public Policy Program in Washington.  One of the things I admire most

about is his ability to bring together people with different views to find

common ground so that we could all move forward together.  We all want better

services for our children  and I feel IPADD makes us better informed and able

to

advocate for our kids.  Terrie Varnet

Sorry about blowing off the other day, Alobar. I wasn't particularly upset at

your rejection of " anything Wikipedia " but the link to the Bolen Report got to

me. It struck me as arrogant and ignorant. Bolen's claim to fame is fighting

Quackbusters and yet here he was complaining that some people had not been

allowed to edit or remove all references to global warming and that someone had

the gall to edit his inputs. That struck me as a new level in absurdity. A

REPUBLICAN committee just released their findings that the global warming data

had not been manipulated by scientists!

At the risk of further irritation to group members I will give some background

on my sensitivy to links of that sort. Members who are likely to be irritated

please stop reading here.

I have a brother who is a conservative Christian. No sarcasm intended although

it would not be inappropriate. He receives conservative type emails from a

number of people and forwards it to a large list of his friends. I was included

in that list. The information he sent was almost always wrong - often outright

lies and braisen distortions of the truth. a simple Google search would identify

the inaccuracies. At first I would send corrections to him and suggest that

certainly he would not want to send out such information. People will judge him

by the information he sends. When he forwards such info he is saying he agrees

with and stands behind the information. Nothing changed. I tried sending the

corrections to everyone on the distribution. No change. I asked to be removed

from the distribution because others on the list, who apparently approved of the

dishonest information, might think that I agreed with them and I didn't. After a

number of requests I was removed. Another brother has told me the first brother

believes the apocalypse is coming and now fears for my soul.

Sheech.

My brother will only watch FOX which he says is the only accurate news station.

He cancelled all newspapers except USA Today (he likes the sports coverage)

because they were biased. When poeple tell me they won't trust information from

Wikipedia, the FDA. NIH, etc., I picture my brother watching FOX and reading the

USA Today sports pages. If you send a link in response to one of my posts please

be aware you may be asked to defend it.

Regards,

Steve

Steve,

Just to let you know - I had EXACTLY the same experience as you, literally word

for word, though not with my brother. It was an old classmate from high school

with a large list of friends to whom he passed out these phony e-mails. And they

were ALL phony. When I replied to all with corrective info from snopes.com or

other sources I got the same reception. I also asked to be removed because it

just wasn't worth the aggravation.

And Faux News? It should be banned for the outrageous lies it perpetuates.

Shouldn't there be some standard of truth in reporting?

End of rant.
