Workshop 1 - Wednesday, November 9, 2005 6:30 - 8:30 pm Practical Behavior Management for your child with autism - Kim Renner If you struggle with your child’s behavior when you go to the store or to a neighbor’s house…..maybe even at home….come and learn some practical strategies for helping your child to maintain his behavior. Find out why time-out and other strategies you have tried did not work. Workshop 2 - Wednesday, January, 11, 2006 6:30 - 8:30 pm Toilet training for your child with autism - Kim Renner If you are planning to toilet train your child or have tried to teach your child to use the toilet but have not been successful, come and learn how to evaluate why your child is having difficulties and specific strategies to make your child successful. Workshop 3 - Wednesday, February 8, 2006 6:30 - 8:30 pm Help your child with autism sleep better - Kim Renner If your child is difficult to get to bed, takes a long time to fall asleep, wakes up during the night, can’t sleep without you, or sleeps at the wrong times, come to this workshop to learn how to help your child to sleep better …you will sleep better, too. Workshop 4 - Wednesday, March, 8, 2006 6:30 - 8:30 pm New Diagnosis—What Now? - Kim Renner and Linell Weinberg If your child has recently been diagnosed as having as Autism Spectrum Disorder, come to this workshop to learn the issues you will face and the next steps you should take. Also, learn how to evaluate programs you are considering. About the Presenters Kim Renner holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology from Eastern Michigan University, a Limited License in Psychology in the State of Michigan, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Kim has presented workshops and lectures on topics related to autism such as basic behavioral teaching and strategies, management of problem behaviors, ABA for children with autism, sleep problems, toileting, behavioral strategies in the classroom, data collection in the classroom, and generalization. She currently works as a private ABA / autism consultant in SE Michigan and NW Ohio. She is inspired by her teenage son with autism. Linell Weinberg is the Director of the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio. She has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and is the parent of an adult daughter with Asperger Syndrome.
