Guest guest
Hi Deva, I am one month out of TKR and have had lots of swelling/pain, especially after walking, light house cleaning or any activity more than scooting in my walker to the restroom. My PT who I also just emailed said do more ice and less activities if hurting. Exercises are important, but what I really want to emphasize is that everyone heals and responds differently. We really can't compare to much, because it takes our focus off of how much we have improved. We have to be patient and of course watch out for any signs of infection, blood clots and excessive pain and swelling. I am about the same as you with your bending measurements. Don't let anyone scare you to " motivate " more excercizes etc. This is your body and your knee, just do your best, Let's keep in touch! Guest guest
Hi Deva, Did your doctor send you home with a CPM machine after surgery? I found that this helped a whole lot in my recovery. It was pretty painful for a few weeks, but I found that if I took 2 of my pain meds and waited 45 minutes for them to kick in good, I could put my leg on the machine for an hour a couple of times a day and it wasn't so painful. If you can just grin a bear it for a little while longer, it should get better. I am 8 1/2 weeks post op and am walking limp free and mostly pain free (unless I overdo it). I do find that I have to grit my teeth and stretch the muscles, tendons and skin at least every other day or it will stiffen up. Also..ice, ice, and more ice! Make sure you keep ice on it when it swells..it helps alot. Good luck, and keep me posted on your progress. In the first 3 weeks or so, my thought was " what have I done??? " ...now my thought is " why didn't I do this sooner? " . It's the best gift I could have given myself.... Angie > > I am in my fourth week post surgery. I had minimally invasive quad-sparing TKR. My knee only bends to 75-80 degrees and my PT says that I have a few weeks to get it to bend or it will have to be forced under sedation. It feels like all the muscles and tendons that were in a cramp for years (My knee was bone on bone and I couldn't straighten it)are still in a cramp and keeping it from bending. What were your experiences of getting your knee to bend? Deva >
Guest guest
I'm 6 weeks out on minimally invasive partial knee and an ACL replacement. I'm getting 125 degrees. My other knee (which was done 2 weeks ago) gets much less (92 ish). Just grit your teeth and keep working on it. It gets better. > > I am in my fourth week post surgery.
