Guest guest
Sorry, but there was no confusion at all as to what we were told. My surgeon was present, along with 2 nurses and my wife. We were all in disbelief when the news came to us. If I chose to stay overnight I would have been billed and for what a hospital charges for one night, I could have gotten a week at the Hyatt Regency across from Waikiki Beach. Wake up America, 2014 isn't even here yet [when the full effects of the healthcare bill takes over] and all insurance providers have been charging more for less. If healthcare isn't scrapped we're all in huge trouble. I've asked doctors, nurses and insurance people about this healthcare plan and no one wants it. Sometimes when ones has anesthetic and pain medicationns plus the accompanying anxiety it is easy to misunderstad or assume. My dad was famous for getting confused when medicated. That is why one should have someone with them. This medical stuff can be confusing and scary. even when not medicated. My advise is if you have to go alone then get everything in writing before being medicated. Dee

Guest guest
Is it possible that your doctor didn't think another night was necessary?  Maybe the wrong surgeon was chosen.  Do you know if other patients have been treated the same?  What investigations into the surgeon have you done?  I for one would like a list of surgeons that were unsympathetic to the patients needs. I'm not sure what you want done with the new healthcare law.  Scrapping the law leaves us with nothing.  No patient protection.  The hole for prescription coverage opened back up.  No coverage for pre-existing conditions.  I could go on and on.  Certainly a single payer plan would have been better.  But the current law protects us better than before.  Clifford From: deVonnaB <vonstrudel@...> Subject: misunnderstanding Joint Replacement Date: Monday, March 28, 2011, 1:28 PM  I think this patient just misunderstood when he thought he was being sent home. Guest guest
It's unfortunate that politics has entered into this discussion. However, the Health Reform Act has NOTHING - repeat NOTHING - to do with this individual's stay in the hospital since the guidelines and funding for Medicare have not been affected this year. If anything those on Medicare have it better in 2011 since certain limitations on rehab have been listed. If your doctor states that something is medically necessary, Medicare pays for it. Medicare is actually more generous than most private insurance companies in paying for things - Personally I can't wait until I reach the age when I can get Medicare and don't have an insurance bill of $800 per MONTH with a high deductible and co-payment. I don't know who those " nobodies " are - In 2011 those affected are children who can remain on their parents' plans until 25 and people with pre-existing conditions who are guaranteed the right to purchase a policy. Guest guest
, Maybe " nobody " in health care wants it because the insurance companies and the ama have spent millions in advertising campaigns against it, but it's quite clear that the majority of people want it. That is the people who don't listen to all the lies and misleading info about it.
