Guest guest
Bill I was just telling a friend yesterday I felt like I hit a plateau physically. PT is treating my knee also because some days it hurt more than my hip did and I think it's holding me back. Today is a good day thankfully. I'm going to PT 3x/week so hopefully I will turn a corner soon. I'm about 99% independent. The only thing I can't do yet is tie my shoe. Guest guest
Hi , Well about the only thing that has been resolved is my Boss of 22 years canceled my Health insurance.. He tried to play it off like he was canceling the whole Groups insurance.. but I talked to a guy from work and he hadn't heard a thing about a cancellation?? Pretty Funny Huh.. I knew my Boss was full of crap when he told me that.. Truth is he is to small of a company ( 6 guys ) and if I had a THR on his insurance his rate would go up... And he wouldn't let me return to work for him anyways, if I had the surgery, I would be to much of a Risk..So he is going to cover his own a$$ and hang me out to dry...22 years down the drain.. I hope he knows paybacks are coming his way.. might be a few years.. but I will never forget this.. I am officially uninsured after March 31st.. I have my certificate that states I have had insurance for the past 18 months.. That way if I get some coverage from Indiana's state program, the waiting period for preexisting conditions will be waived, but I have to do it within 63 days.. I am going to check with a few other places before that time to see if I can get a better rate?? Even through it's a state program, the premiums are still $300 to $500 a month depending upon which deductible you want... I also might check with an Disability lawyer to see if I have a case or not.. My Family doctor says I do.. my OS says he doesn't think so, but that was when I had insurance and he wanted to operate on me..$$$... So I don't know what to do?? Some days I think the CD I had is working and others I can barely walk on it.. Also my right leg is slowly becoming symptomatic.. What a depressing mess... Guest guest
Have you talked to an attorney regarding your being fired. You should look into issues relating to disability as well as worker's compensation - retaliatory firing. If you were ever trying to be " Mr. Nice Guy " it's time to take the gloves off. It certainly makes sense to consult an attorney. I am on the Board of my condo building and we fired a guy who was sleeping on the job and he successfully got a claim for " mental harassment " - not that I am suggesting you are a shirker but just that you might as well try to get as much from the system as possible. I would like to point out that this kind of thing will NOT occur after the Health Reform Act becomes fully operative in 2014 - which is too late for Bill G unfortunately. I could explain why but it has to do with the requirement that all people have health insurance and the ability for small employers to pool together so that their rates don't rise precipitously on the basis of one employer's claim. Guest guest
Jeff, I have looked into COBRA..It states that my former company has to employ 20 or more employees full-time.. Since he doesn't, he is exempt from the Federal Law.. I also have been off work since the middle of November, that is when I had a Core Decompression for AVN of my hip.. So the FMLA won't do me any good.. it is only 12 weeks of medical leave per year... Plus, I have been on unemployment this whole time, so actually I haven't been an employee for him since November, but he has been carrying me on the Group insurance plan since..Thinking the one operation would cure it.. Then I told him I probably need my left hip replaced...Which I thought the time was right for it since the company is slow on work and most everyone from there is laid off anyways... Well that just got the ball rolling for him and he went into self protection mode.. All he was worried about after that was how much his rate would increase.. And how I could never do masonry with a fake hip.. He said I would wear it out to quick.. Said I would get my boot stuck in the mud and go to pull it out and mess up the prosthesis... LOL I had to chuckle.. when he said that, but I can't say to much to him.. He is one of those guys that know ALL and thinks everyone is trying to Sue him for everything he has... Only thing he is right on is that I still have my other leg to worry about.. I have Bilateral AVN... To him that is just another claim against his insurance.. and he will not have it.. So he got rid of me. So I am pretty much on my own.. Just trying to figure out which route to take..I don't know if I can get Disability.. I have other issues with my knees ( Osteochondritis Dissecans ) also some with my lower back that I haven't even had MRI'd yet.. Everyone says that SSDI is a long process and hard to get... Or should I get insurance and have my left hip done.. then hope my other hip, knees and back hold together so I can return to some kind of work... Just a huge mess, Bill in Indiana > > > > Bill how are you doing with all the hassles you have had... anything > > resolved yet? > > > > mary > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > >
Guest guest
Angie, Wow 99% sounds really good at 4 weeks.. I haven't been through the recovery process but to me that sounds like you are doing great..Heck, I can barely reach down to tie my shoe and I haven't even had surgery, might have something to do with my screen name though ( Absofbeer ) LOL How was your surgery? Was there any time you have had regrets about having it done? What's the issue with your knee? Guest guest
Jeff, Yes it is, and to think that I was fine just back in Sept. of 2010.. Then woke up one day with horrible groin pain.. What are your issues that you qualified for SSDI for? If you don't mind me asking? Guest guest
Bill I could tie my shoe before surgery but it was very uncomfortable. I was regretting it the first night when I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and couldn't stop puking. The next day wasn't much better. Then my blood pressure kept dropping very low and when OT was in giving me a lesson I nearly passed out. She called for a nurse and four of them rushed into my room to put me back to bed. I'm sure these bad memories will all fade away once I'm back to 100%. The IT band in my leg is inflamed because I'm compensating for my hip. It was bad before surgery but now that my leg is weaker it's worse. Now PT is treating both my hip and knee.
