Guest guest
Wow... I am going to have to step out... sorry for being such a recluse, I do watch and really have appreciated all the information. I have been around for a while, but wanted to remark to Jeana's stats. I was wondering if I was the only one out here. I was diagnosed in 87 as hiv pos... no meds here either! I am overweight and relatively healthy. I also get the yeast infection, more so than when younger, and really bad after a " normal (for me) sinus/ear infection " that is treated with antibiotics! The oral thrush has been manageable with the normal dentist recommended " tounge brushing " , it only gets on my tounge. I am a religious person and that gives me strength and peace. One day I may have to take meds, but I feel the longer before I have to take them the better my chances when and IF I do.... Faith, being 200 lbs over normal weight, a job I love and an 18 yr old son that won't let me feel sorry for myself for too long... keeps me healthy I believe. I am on the east coast in the Carolinas. THanks Jeana for writing to the list... it can only give someone some hope. ---- you wrote: > From: JanieJonez@... > > hello...i just wanted to say hi and introduce myself....my name is Jeana and > i live in the Los angeles area with my husband josh and our 2 chihuahuas.im a > long termer, diagnosed in feb 1985---ive never taken any of the aids meds and > ive never had any hiv related illness with the exception of oral thrush and > and some occasional(stubborn) yeast infections.i dont know any people in my > area and i hope this list gives me the chance to make some new > friends..............Jeana > > ---------------------------

The last stats were t-cell 453 and viral load 25207... the doctor wanted me to go on crix and 2 other drugs... after watching a close friend go thru stuff and hearing about crix... i just decided to wait... I need to get my stats done again but in Florida they require your name rank and serial number to be on a register... i want my privacy and even though i know it is illegal to fire people, they can always find some reason... Guest guest
Dear and Caroline, What country do you live in? From your letter I thought perhaps the UK? There some good groups over here that mean that you can makes friends and get support from like minded people. I felt very isolated due to not vaccinating my 22 month daughter. I joined the 'Informed Parent' and now have an excellent friend who is great support and I would go mad if I didn't have someone to about vaccines etc. Anyway, take care, Ruth (From Brighton, UK)

Guest guest
Hi Diane! I remember talking to you after my twins were born, I'm sorry I didn't keep in touch. I thought I could go it alone with no outreach to other parents, NOT. This group is so supportive and has allot of information and insight. I hope you enjoy it too. I can't believe that we are so close though. We live in sville. We should plan a family picnic or something someday. has therapy four days a week so my week days are pretty full, let me know if you would like to. I met another mom in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. She has boy/girl twins and the boy has Ds. They are almost three. I've told her about the list, I hope she joins also. Then there would be five of us in the NW! I'm so glad you joined! Guest guest
Welcome Diane - in your introduction you mentioned about your non Ds twin, He also is very sensitive to his environment. >I have to admit that my " typical " (not a word a particularly like) >twin is a little harder to handle than his sister! That describes my situation as well. My boys are 7 (Feb 15) Terrible pregnancy, good birth, pretty good beginnings except for Danny's feeding difficulties/weak suck. Dan was 6 pounds, baby B, n was 5 13 Baby a. We were always concentrating on Danny, and then n ended up with issues too. Started noticing the wildness at around 3 1/2. He has Sensory Integration and ADHD and learning disabilities. We just left the doctor for his annual physical, and we're going back to the neurolgist, this time we will be trying adderol. They're my only children. We live in Hanover, Massachusetts, we have great school system, and both boys are getting excellent help, both in kindergarten. Welcome to the group. I love it here, and I bet you will too. It's fun and you can learn a lot and talk to people about things you think no one could understand. So glad to meet you! Guest guest
Hi Gail, We have thought about doing the same thing with Abbi and with the sleeping arangements. Right now they are sleeping in the same room, but we are going to try and move Abbi in with Mikayla probably when she turns three and goes in a toddler bed. I'm not looking forward to this because Mikayla is a night owl and Abbi likes to go to bed early, and Mikayla likes to read in bed with a night light before she falls asleep and Abbi likes a dark room and just go straight to sleep. So we'll see. As for their relationship, Abbi is the dominating one. crys allot when they play. She isn't mean with him but I think he gets frustrated because he can't verbalize what he wants to her, and also because she is taller and more sure footed than him. Abbi loves , she'll walk up to him and hug his head and say " My boy " (She will not say for nothing , her pet name for him is " Boy " , I don't know where she got it from) I know they never " bonded " when they were younger, because was in the hospital so much. I think they are bonding as twins now, they play between themselves and leaves Mikayla out now. Sorry to go on so long, I just start to ramble! Guest guest
Hi I was so glad that you responded by telling me about your non-ds twin having " issues " . is an absolute love and the cutest kid in the world with his vibrant blonde hair, but he also has sensory integration problems. He would not stand up outside until he was 2yrs old. He also will not swing in a swing and he has to have exactly 3 blankets wrapped around his body in the morning and a mixture of 3 different cereals, or he is all out of sorts. What's even more exciting is that he seems to save this behavior for me and my husband! Daycare and preschool have seen glimpses but not the full on! There are times we just stare at him in awe. His older brother Adam (8) is the exact opposite. Very easy going. (DS) 3 1/2 is somewhat mellow too. I would love to hear from you about some of your solutions. Guest guest
Welcome Diane. I'm Carolyn from New Zealand. I have 4 children and my set of " twins " just happen to be 14 months apart!! When I say twins, I mean they both have DS!! (Just my way of being funny!!) My youngest 2 girls were both born with Trisomy 21 and no one seems to be able to tell me why we should be so lucky as to have 2 with DS!! Emma has just turned 4 and Nicki will be 3 soon. My oldest boy on is 8 also - sure is a nice age! is 6 1/2 going on 16 and they both adore their little sisters (just like I hoped they would)! This is a great place to be! It's your one stop shop for support, companionship and we have a lot of giggles too! Guest guest
Hi Diane, Welcome to our group! I am Marcia. I have three children, as well, nearly the same age spread as your children, and the same girl/boy combination. I have Lucas who was 9 in October and the twins, Sara (DS) and , who were 5 in November. There seems to be quite a bit of sibling rivalry between Lucas and --their fighting drives me crazy at times. Lucas is very good with Sara; and and Sara have their issues sometimes and play very well together at other times. We live in Sisters, Oregon--for a while, I think Kim and I were the only ones from the West Coast, now there seems to be four of us. We're talking about a get-together somewhere this summer. I look forward to hearing more about you and your family. Marcia
