I'm 5 months post op and JUST got to the point that I'm glad I had the surgery.

So, today I see a commercial for a law firm on TV that is filing a class action

suit against Zimmer for a product recall on Nex Gen knee replacements.  This is

really disturbing to me since this is what I have.

They don't replace them if they are functioning.

By recall, they are alerting doctors NOT to install anymore as a

higher percentage of the devices are going bad and requiring revision

- but that amount based on articles is 10% so 90% of people have

nothing to worry about.

Also in terms of the recall, it also makes it easier for a person who

needs a revision because of the failure to get damages. Ordinarily if

there is a problem with a knee or hip replacement, the patient has to

pay for the new procedure as well as go through the hassle of a new

operation. Of course - at least in the US - most replacements are paid

for by Medicare so it is really the US government ( and taxpayers) who

pay the actual costs when medical devices are bad or ineffective.
