Guest guest
Good for you, ...sounds like you've got a lot of happy memories, too! And I'll take your word for it that life improves, I'm one month out on TKR and having a time of it! I am 9 months post op from a bilateral knee replacement. I did a LOT of walking - on the beach for at least a mile and I walked for 11 hours in Epcot in one day. I SURVIVED with very little pain or discomfort. I never could have done this a year ago before the surgery. I debated getting a wheelchair at Epcot, but really did well. Even on a cruise ship, there is a lot of walking up and down and all around. I just wanted those who have not yet had their surgery, or who are newly out from surgery know that is DOES get better! Guest guest
Hi , I can top you! I did 5 days at Disney after 5 1/2 months TKR and never even thought of using a chair. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel. All of you still having problems after replacements, or dreading having one, it really is the best thing. Besides, where else can you have so much fun talking about a truly scary process? All the best, Joan in NYC ________________________________ From: musician12858 <musician12858@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Fri, April 29, 2011 4:19:39 PM Subject: Vacation 9 months post op Hello All, I just returned from a well needed vacation in Florida with a three day cruise to Nassau tied in. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds l like a wonderful vacation. I took my grown kids and grandkids to Epcot and Disney world last summer it was fun. I had THR on my right hip almost 3 years ago. This was very scary for me because I've never been in surgery and only been in the hospital to have babies. It went well and the rehabilitation was relatively asy and pain free and I was pretty much walking at least a mile in 6 week or so (and driving). I've been avoiding knee surgery for 2 years now, also the right side (I must really use my right side) but I believe the time has come. I'm very worried because people tell me the surgery is not so traumatic for your body but the recovery is VERY traumatic and painful for bringing back mobility. Is this generally true? If I live alone how long should I plan on staying with my daughter until I can be back on my own again? Guest guest
" bilateral " means both, or both sides. Bilateral knees means both knees. > > > > Hello All, > > > > I just returned from a well needed vacation in Florida with a three day cruise to Nassau tied in. Guest guest
If you did as well as you said after your hip, you should be fine with a knee. I think overall, the hip was worse(granted I had BOTH knees done the same day though). The hip was scarier with the restrictions. So because I am comparing one hip with two knees, I am probably not the best person to ask. I do say though, if you are suffering, don't wait. Get it done and move on with your life. Depending on your recovery and if you might have a lot of stairs involved, would determine the amount of time with your daughter. I would GUESS a couple of weeks, though. in PA Bilateral TKR - 7/2010 Left THR - 7/2007 > > > > Hello All, > > > > I just returned from a well needed vacation in Florida with a three day cruise to Nassau tied in.
