Guest guest
Today is the one year anniversary of my bilateral knee replacement! It is hard to believe it has been a whole year. The surgery, pain, rehab, pain, pt visits, pain, are all done. Yes, I still have stiffness now and then, but the pain I had prior to the surgery just is not there anymore! I saw my surgeon last week and he was impressed with my range of motion. The left knee was 130 and the right about 120. The right has always been a bit stiffer. However, the left knee is the one that crunches when I get up from a low chair. No pain - just crunching. He said it is probably the kneecap rubbing on something and was not concerned. Unfortunately I forgot to get x-rays done to bring in, so I will do that next week. Not that there is anything wrong, but just to keep tabs on everything inside. I will see him again in a year, unless there is something that comes up. For those who are deciding whether or not to have a replacement done, OR if you are debating about having them both done at the same time, I highly recommend either scenarios. If you are even visiting this site, you obviously are considering a knee or hip replacement (I had a hip done, too in 2007). Having them done at the same time was hard, but I sincerely do NOT think I could have done the rehab on one knee with other " good " knee - they were both SO horrible. Best of luck to those who are about to have surgery or are still recovering! in PA Bilateral TKR - 7/22/2010 Left THR - 7/2007
