Guest guest
Lynn, Both my knees were replaced on Aug. 16, 2010. My legs got all black and blue also. They got really ugly looking. It started to look bad about the 6th or 7th day after surgery. I also used Lovenox. I didn't have that kind of pain though, I just kept taking my pain killers. I was not too worried about the black and blue legs because I was warned it might happen. Hang in there. Pat in Pennsylvania [Norton AntiSpam]Re: Total Knee Replacement on March 3 I had my knee replaced on March 29th and am getting pains like you describe. My leg was black and blue down to my ankle, but I am on Lovenox, so no wonder. Still no one I know had bruising like this. The pain goes to my foot, too, and was so intense I thought I had a clot (I didn't). PT said the tourniquet must have really been applied very tightly to cause the pain, compressing nerves and muscles. I am doing my exercises and am at 10 straight and 95 degrees bending. I walk, and tend to overdo it, tho, so that''s not helping with the pain. One of the nurses overdid it when she had her knee replaced and had to go on the CPM. I don't see my surgeon until May 11. First knee went really --2nd not as easy--but I am coming along. My question-I am having little pain in the surgical site--but I am getting perpheral pain down the side of my calf and down to the arch of my foot--anybody have this problem? I am still exerciosing every day--and that seems to aggrate it--but if I don't exercise my knee stiffens right away. Any information would be helpful. Surgeon said healing is going well - told him about pain down my leg into my foot - he said swelling is causing pressure on the nerve and when swelling goes down the pain should stop - any comments? > > Thanks, > > Bobbi > >
