Similar Contessia, but not the same. I was given the run around the same as

you.

My original surgeon kept telling me my problem pain was muscular.

But when I had the dislocations I showed the new surgeon my x-rays,

and he told me the cage that was holding the joint in place had broken.

and had been broken some time, I never had this mentioned to me before this

day,

So my advice is get another opinion.

My hip finally gave way dislocated and I had the revision, and now 0 pain.

When you had the paramedics out had your hip dislocated ??

-- Old crack on cup just shpwing up now

Hi all! I thought I wouldn't be popping up here until the next time I

see my surgeon - sometime in June but I saw my family doctor today to

see about testing for sciatica (sp?) due to the pain and issues not

letting up. Anyway after I got the news that my hip aspiration showed no

signs of infection I decided to let up and get my hair cut - haven't had

it done in two years and to see red riding hood with my sister - I got

stuck in the theatre and the paramedics were called and the er

department took xrays but said nothing looked out of the ordinary and

sent me home with more pain killers.

Anyway at my family doctor appointment today he got the report from

those xrays of a doctor who examined them after I went home who noted

that the cup had what looked like an old crack on it but since it looked

old he didn't comment on it. My surgeon has not once said anything about

cracks the last few times I saw him actually he said everything looks

good no cracks or loosening appears to be showing up. So I was a little

confused by what my family doctor told me so he is sending the xrays

plus a copy of the report with a note from him to the surgeon and booked

me for a bone scan. The only way he could think of the crack is if it

started deep and just came to the surface sometime in the past month

since I last saw my surgeon and he did xrays.

I am a little confused and frustrated by the whole I was wondering if

anyone has gone through something similar.

Hi ! No, my hip hasn't dislocated the paramedics came because when I

sit for longer than an hour in an chair - high, low, soft, hard, with

the wedge cushion it don't matter where when I try to get up I just

can't and it is extremely painful trying. Nothing has popped but

paramedics on two occasions have heard a cracking sound like bones

sometime do but it is loud enough for three or four people to hear.

Yeah, well my surgeon said he saw nothing on the xrays and the hip

aspiration showed no infection so I made an appointment with my family

doctor to do tests for other things because well I kind of want a life

and want children someday and at 32 in November the clock is beginning

to tick.

I would seriously consider a second opinion but just to arrange an

appointment to see a surgeon who isn't intimaded by my surgeon can take

up to a year :(. My current surgeon came highly recommended and looking

anywhere online no one says anything bad about him and he teaches so

most surgeons in the area know who he is and could never imagine him

being wrong. So I am doing the next best thing going through my family

doctor and playing off the two of them like a kid would with its parents

you know when one says no so you go to the other to get what you want -

I know it sounds bad but hey if it gets the job done:).

You sound like you have had a lot of surgeries as well may I ask if you

had any with children at home (if it is too personal just ignore it - it

is just so hard to find answers to certain questions in certain areas).

Your orignial surgeon sounds like he thougght he was always right grr I

hope your other surgeon sent him a nice note.

It sounds like you may need to approach someone from out of the area along with

an attorney. My guess is that no other surgeon wants to get caught up in a

lawsuit, which is where they suspect this is headed just saying. As for the

cracking sounds, this could be a number of things. In my new hip the noises are

definitely muscular and I can feel them trying to adjust, in my yet to be

operated on hip, the cracking sounds are from the bones catching up because I

have a condition called FAI which brought me into this mess to begin with.

Having a bone scan may be your best bet because no doctor can refuse the results

of something that has been tested. Keep up your efforts as you will find the

cause of this!!!

hi jocelyn,

your explanation about your hip and the pain and noise you are suffering is very

similar to mine. I saw three doctors but no diagnosis until now, they continue

asking me to strengthen my hip muscles . when i awake from sleeping i suffer

pain , sometimes i make some exercises to reduce the pain before i stand and

walk. also   suffer the same when i stand after driving .
