Guest guest
Mark, Will that bill cover SSI as well as SSD? And what about those of us who receive Medicaid as well as Medicare? I could not afford my meds if I lost my Medicaid. Lynn >hey all, >I just wanted to let everyone know that as of July 1, 1999 the monthly >earnings that you can make on SSDI goes from a maximum of $500 to $700. >Also that a bill just passed the Senate on July 16, 1999 by a vote of 99-0 >that would allow people with disabilities to go back to work full time with >the lifetime coverage of Medicare. Guest guest
Wow, have I missed alot or what!!! Ok here goes, , my prayers are with you. You are a very giving, compassionate person to be doing what you are doing. Diane, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. What a vicious disease this is. I will keep you in my prayers also. Jan, Hope your headache went away. Are you taking care of yourself? Dave, I got really sick in my last six weeks. I think my body was just plain worn out. I too ended up taking days off from work here and there cause I just couldn't get it together. It will pass, just keep on hanging in there. I'm sorry I haven't been in touch more everyone. I have been extremely busy at work and I was at an aa service convention over the weekend. When I get home at night, I just kinda collapse then its homework with the kids, meetings, etc...... I'm done treatment on Friday. I can't believe I made the full year. It will seem very strange to NOT have to take a shot and swallow handfuls of pills. I also have apprehension about whether it worked or not. Won't know that for a few months. I guess I'm just feeling a little scared and freaky. Please, keep me in your prayers and share any experiences regarding this issue. Love, Vicky

Guest guest
Don: You are doing great. Do your PT religiously. Push yourself. I did this. I'm 3 1/2 months post bilateral knee replacements. I am off all devices--walker and cane. My ROM is 135° in my right and 130° in my left. I'm walking on the treadmill almost 1/2 mile in 10 minutes. I have no pain at all. I am amazed at the things I can do now like standing to cook and wash dishes. Stand for a prolonged period of time. Make sure you do your home exercises twice a day. Again, keep up the good work and you will be happy--no more pain. Guest guest
Donna, I don't know how to tell the title of which Cathe workout it was on FitTV. There was a tiny bit of kick boxing, lots of plyo jumps, some medicine ball abs. Lots of lunges. I have one Croos Train Xpress tape...its ok. Not my favorite. Cottage Cheese and fruit have been my breakfast for a long time. I'm a little tired of it and by the time I get to work its all runny.I do like it for desert on occassion still. Especially with strawberries. I pretty much have limited myself to one tablespoon of the soy butter which is lower in fat and higher in protein than PB. It tastes ok...it'll hold me for a couple of weeks. I pretty much need something with little or no work or it won't work for me...especially with my schedule and job. Sometimes its hard to get into my kitchedn because there is a meeting room adjacent to it. Ugh! Thanks so much! a -- _______________________________________________ Find what you are looking for with the Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC\ =lycos10
Guest guest
Jeanne, thanks for your input. I have been told that the temperature for enzymes die-off begins at 98 oF . Understandably relative humidly and atmospheric pressure play a part as well. But the 105 oF may seem more realistic. I have " burned " several batches of kombucha in my " experiments " and several even when burned - meaning turning a dark brown have seemingly produced healthy looking offspring's and decent KT. However I never had those batches tested for contents to determine if it was " real " KT. Is there a source for your exact temperature? I don't have a source for my quote of 98 oF. , In my experience the mushroom as well as the KT - when burned - turns dark brown. The tea tasted " thicker " and not pleasant. I have succeeded in growing another mushrooms using the burned mother and burned KT as starter tea. As well as dried, semi dried, frozen and reconstituted mushrooms into good looking mushroom and good tasting KT but - There are no industry standard for what is - is not a kombucha. (There are several opinions). In past conversations with another list member - Zephyr when he tested batches lacking in glycolic acids and attempted to grow subsequent batches, did not reconstitute with the missing acid after several batches). Roussins or other sources does not list glycolic acid as part of the minimum or essential requirements for kombucha. The point is that once the what-ever is missing may not re-appear latter through subsequent brewing. And it may just be as healthier without it - who knows? It may be a nice question to pose to commercial producers of kombucha. Ed Kasper LAc. Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist Acupuncture is a jab well done www.HappyHerbalist.com Santa Cruz, CA. Re: Re: overheated KT Is there any way to test to be sure? Do I just have to make another batch of tea and see if it comes out right? The edges of the scobies curled up a little, and the center of the scobies are up much higher than the edges, kind of like a little tent. As a raw foodist the temperature to set a dehydrator at and still consider the food raw is exactly 105. At this degree the enzymes are still alive..even higher in some people's opinion. So, my guess is that your scoby is safe. Jeanne
