Kathie,

I was out when they

inserted my pacemaker and six months later when they took it out and put in an

ICD. I am also getting older and

more forgetful with every day.

Having said that I

think they sometimes have to do a lot of pushing and tugging of various parts

of our chest and arms to get the ICD and wires into place. My memory says that it takes awhile for

all the aches and pains to go away.

You should have

gotten some instructions when you left the hospital for warning signs of

infection and the like. If you

suspect there is something wrong I would call the doctor’s office ASAP. If you just want the aches and pains to

go away quicker I would wait and talk to them.

I had open heart 15

years ago to replace a heart valve and after that a cough could make me see

stars in the middle of the day.

The ICD was a piece of cake compared to that but I am not going to lie

and say it didn’t hurt. The good

news is that for most folks the aches and pains go away and we can’t remember

them.

Maybe knitting isn’t

enough of a distraction. Maybe you

should write an article on what is normal. That would take some serious thinking.

Good luck!

Joe Schmidt – Don’t

you dare call me normal.

Question

Good

morning. I have and still have pain when I take a breath in the middle

upper part of my chest. Has anyone experienced this? I have an

app for Friday at the Pacer Clinic for the wound site inspection, then on the

30th to see the Heart Dr or Pa. I can ask questions then but Of course

you all have gone through this first hand so would know what I am talking

about and if it is normal.

Thanks,

Kathie

Kathie, I'm 8 months out from mine and it still hurts. Sometimes just a

bit, and sometimes a lot, but it's always achey. I'm hoping this will

subside with time--indeed, it's much better than it was at first, and

gets better all the time, but it's slow and annoying.

%%% Yes. When I don't do my housework, my wife hits me with the vacuum

cleaner wand. (Did you know that there is a mace attachemet just for lazy

husbands?)

From California where of all the household chores to be done, my favorite is

catching dust before it falls on the recliner. Of course it takes my whole

body to prevent the recliner from getting dusty, but I am a professional.

PDD is the umbrella term for language and communication disorders. Under this

umbrella you have autism, PDD-NOS (not otherwise specified) meaning not sure how

to diagnose exactly, but their is a problem, rhett's disorder, autism and

aspergers. In the DSM-IV ( diagnostic manuals psychology) all this information

is found. Children diagnosed with aspergers ususally have a very good language

and communication base, but are very literal, have difficulty with social skills

due to inability to read body language and facial expressions appropriately.

There are several excellent books to explain all this. Kids can aslo have dual

diagnosis such as ADD/ADHD and OCD, just to name a few. I hope this has been

helpful and feel free to email me with questions. I will double check my DSM to

make sure my info is correct. Aspergers was added to the DSM later, so some

people do not consider it " autism " , but rather on the spectrum.

Another question

Thanks to the people that replied to me about the other question.

This is another question

In the Ian project they have this list

If you notice they mentiion ASD, then Autism, then Autistic disorder... are

they all the

same, or what are the differences?

Also in he PDD is mentioned 1rst PDD alone then PDD-Nos ( what is the

difference)

I mean this make things very confusing when they diagnose your children , why

do they

always make it sound like PDD is a different disorder.

I hope someone can help, cause to new parents this can be very confusing.

We have being living with autism since 2004

And with 3 boy's diagnosed from classic autism to severe autistic.

And this question is because sometimes even myself gets a little confused about

this.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism

Asperger Syndrome

Autistic Disorder

Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)

Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)

Childhood Disintegrative Disorder (CDD)

***UPDATE*****

For those who are so kind to ask.. we have hired and attorney pn education law

at this

time to help us out... lets see how that goes, wish my 3 little guys good luck!

We are looking in to getting what our children deserve .

Another question

Thanks to the people that replied to me about the other question.

This is another question

In the Ian project they have this list

If you notice they mentiion ASD, then Autism, then Autistic disorder... are

they all the

same, or what are the differences?

Also in he PDD is mentioned 1rst PDD alone then PDD-Nos ( what is the

difference)

I mean this make things very confusing when they diagnose your children , why

do they

always make it sound like PDD is a different disorder.

I hope someone can help, cause to new parents this can be very confusing.

We have being living with autism since 2004

And with 3 boy's diagnosed from classic autism to severe autistic.

And this question is because sometimes even myself gets a little confused about

this.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism

Asperger Syndrome

Autistic Disorder

Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)

Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)

Childhood Disintegrative Disorder (CDD)

***UPDATE*****

For those who are so kind to ask.. we have hired and attorney pn education law

at this

time to help us out... lets see how that goes, wish my 3 little guys good luck!

You should be in Terminal 1 of the San Diego Airport, the day before your surgery at or before 11 to meet Ernesto. Prepare a sign with your name in Caps on it. Ernesto will be looking for patients according to a list of names.

I hope this is helpful. I got the info from Nina yesterday.

Good luck,

Margaret

Hello dawn2dark,

Not sure what liquids you are on, but if they include milk, that could

be the problem. Many find that they can't handle milk or milk

products after surgery. I had lots of trouble with it for a month or

so, but now no problem. Milk gave me diarrhea. Some have said that

has become a permanent lactose intolerance.

As to how common this is, or whether you're even dealing with milk

products, I don't know, but something to consider.

Hi - I'm a new member and am 4 weeks post op. During the first two

weeks after my surgery - I too had terrible diarrhea. Everything was

very liquid (going in and coming out)- somtimes I could barely control

it.....but it started to firm up toward the end of the second week and

now at the 4th week (on pureed food) I'm back to normal.

I would check with your doctor but I just think it is the body getting

used to what has been done. BTW I did have cream soups made with milk

but since everything leveled out - I don't think it was the milk.

Do,however, drink LOTS of water sip-sip-sip between meals so you don't

dehydrate.

Dawn, exactly what are your post-op orders? Most of us can be on Full

lqiuids within a few days. If YOU can, you can have lots of things

that have fiber that will lessen the loose stools. But stools will

always be looser when we are on liquids. you can also ask your

surgeon if some Immodium AD would be ok.

If you are allowed FULL LIQUIDs, these things will help (if your doc

allows them) -

- stop apple juice - promotes loose stools. No citrus or tomato juice

until there are no further loose stools.

- add smooth applesauce - lessens diarrhea (the pectin is not removed

as it is with juice)

- have more of these foods (all pureed smooth and thinned so they

could get thru a straw):

chili, any blended soup with beans and meat (good protein and fiber),

thin oatmeal, thin cream of wheat (Both have good fiber) , any canned

chicken, beef, or ham

peas, carrots, potatoes - these veggies will all firm your stools.

Also have daily yogurt with LIVE cultures - either in a cup or the

drinkable kind. The antibiotics given during and after surgery can

zap the good bacteria in your gut, and promote very loose stools.

This type of yogurt will add back the good bacteria. you may have to

get it at a health food store.

Hope this helps, and that you're better soon !

Hello!

I think that you will be amazed at what the band can

help you accomplish. I have never been able to lose

weight, " dieting " only made me very HUNGRY and

CRANKY!!! If I get hungry, as a matter of fact, I can

get down right BITCHY! It is not a good thing to see

me be hungry. But, the band helps me SO much with

that! I am only just 2 months with my band, but I am

not hungry, and I am able to eat little and be fine

with that. It is very interesting once your mind set

changes, and you look at all the food on someones

plate (and often know that you even ate MORE than

that), it is almost a disgusting feeling. BUt I just

ate a cup of soup, and I am all fine and dandy! I

heard from my nutritionist the other day that the band

provides 40% of the effort to be successful, but you

need to kick in the other 60%. That made total sense

to me. The band is a tool, and will HELP, but you

still need to do your part. It was not that I ate so

bad before, it was more the quantity that I ate that

it took to fill me up. I think that sounds like you.

But now I sometimes even forget to eat! It can be 4

PM, and I remember I never ate lunch! But you know? I

know that I will not starve and whither away, either.

Sometimes food does not even sound all that appealing,

and I can tell you that has NEVER happened in my life!

I started just over 300, and just turned 34 yesterday.

It sounds as if we may have alot in common! I am down

a total of 18 lbs since June 27th. Could be better,

and I am learning that some choices I have made along

the way are better than others, but I also got my

second fill, nearly doubling the amount I previously

had, and WHAT a difference! I know that I am already

eating much less just since my fill on Tuesday, and if

I lost 8 lbs last month, I can hardly wait to see how

next months weigh in will go! I went to my PCP today

(I have strep throat), and for the first time EVER was

excited to see what the number on their scale said.

The nurse didn't know I had surgery, and was so happy

I had lost the weight! And, so am I. We paid out of

pocket, as most people have to do, but it is SO worth

it to me to have a better life.

Best wishes on your journey! Learn as much about the

band as you can! I was talking with a gal the other

day and telling her about the band, and she asked if

it worked. I said it was. She told me that a lady she

worked with had flown to Sweden or someplace before

the band was FDA approved here, and that it didn't

work for her. Now, I will guess that was about 8-10

years ago, and the internet might not have been as

accessable or have the info she needed, but she was

obviously either led to believe that having the band

will work magic, or they assumed she knew how it

worked or whatever. She said it wasn't until 2 years

later she finally went in and got what sounded to me

like her first fill, then the band started helping.

Best of luck to yoU!

I have dieted my whole life and would lose only to

gain again. All the time while dieting I was hungry

and most of time felt defeated. With the band my

hunger is diminished, not eliminated, but diminished

to a level that I can deal with. I do have to deal

with my head and wanting to graze/snack/overeat even

when I am not really hungry. I have to acknowledge

what is really going on when I go for food...the band

gives me that ability to stop and make the better

choices.

I have lost 150 lbs in the 22 mo I have been

banded...actually lost in 19 or 20 mo and have

maintained. The band will work for you if you work

the band.

The MMR does not contain thimerosal. It is a live-virus vaccine and

the thimerosal would kill the viruses.

Not sure about the MMR-thimerosal-autism link. Others might know

for sure but I think the only link I have heard is that they give

thimerosal-containing shots at the same time as the MMR and the

combination can be a trigger?? Again, I'm not 100% sure of that.

Hi Vida, the MMR never did have mercury. They link it to Autism because of

Wakefields study. From my understanding, the MMR causes problems in the gut.

Wakefield, found measles in the gut of his subjects. Then I think, these

problems cause the mercury and other toxins in the vaccines, to be more able to

inflict more damage. The MMR kind of opens the door, I guess you could say.

I am not very knowledgeable on this subject. I tend to only research those that

are most relevant to me and my family. But from the information posted

here, that I have read, the above is my understanding.

At the end of the day, all vaccines can cause damage. And the MMR does not have

to be the factor. But thanks to the publicity surrounding Wakefields ordeal, it

is the main focus. And ironically, it is my understanding, there was nothing

wrong with his actual study. It is all about a supposed conflict of interest.

And from my perspective, there is no conflict of interest. Not if the

pharmaceutical companies can get away with screaming vaccine safety, only on

their own studies. That is a much bigger conflict of interest, in my book.

Does the MMR vaccine contain thimerosal? If not, then I'm confused.

When they say the MMR-thimerosal-autism link, it sounds like it is in

the vaccine. So what vaccines now contain thimerosol? Thanks.

www.trackingvaccinations.com dissects the breakdown of why the MMR AND the

DTaP ( & DTP) are the culmunating factors of autism.  Combine that with several

generations of parents who have had been vaccinated, and the chance of producing

a child with the right environment (vulnerability) of acquiring autism or

another host of multifactorial / chronic health problems...and it all makes

sense.

A downward spiral of profit over pain.......

I dont remember the study but the MMR is one of those vaccines that

doctors dont give their own kids. I ll try to find the study where I

read that if anyone is interested.
