Guest guest
I have suffered for years and years from itchy spots that were called eczema by doctors I went to and none of them could find the culprit behind the terrible discomfort I've been living thru. This past pregnancy I had been given antibiotics several times (I will NEVER do that again) but noticed my itchy spots have been severely worse since. I finally decided to do some diagnoses of my own and am now treating myself for candida overgrowth. (Which I would welcome suggestions on this!) I have switched my family over to All Free & Clear detergent and been cutting down on dairy and yeast bread and investigating dietary changes I should make... I'm already vegetarian, but not vegan. I started using Gentian Violet on myself instead of steroid creams. GV stains everything, btw, so if you're going to ever use it, be very careful! When the itch is at the point I cannot take it anymore I use Benadryl cream, which I don't feel comfortable with, but it's the only thing that works ever... at least, for a few hours... I am taking probiotics like mad. I know if you kill the yeast off too fast you can have flu like symptoms, but i don't care. I've lived with this horrendous condition for too long now and I'm desperate. A few days of something that feels like the flu is NOTHING compared to the horrible itch and pain I have endured, keeping me up all night long, for YEARS. I do not have any $$ to go to a homeopath. My symptoms started when I was about 2 years old... my mother told me it was the first time I was treated for eczema. Now in my research on candidiasis I have found out many people's problems with yeast start in infancy! So just something to keep in mind when you're looking at something that looks like eczema in a child. And btw... if anyone has any experience or suggestions for me, I'd really appreciate it... feel free to email me off list... jollymon@.... ~

Guest guest
I can't use any soap at all for my son. I bought those ceramic ball things for the washing machine. My whites aren't bright white, but I'd rather have a non-itchy kid. I also have not used soap on him for the bath for over a year now. He just stands in the shower with me and gets clean with plain old water. www.ChestnutHillCurlies.com Eczema > Kayla, it may take several weeks for the eczema to clear completely. Guest guest
- I thought I had yeast overgrowth, too. I had all the symptoms, and have been battling some weird sort of pustulated psoriasis on my feet for 1 1/2 years now. I finally had the homeopath do a blood test for candida, and it was negative. <Whew!> It's so hard to eliminate all yeast and flour from your diet. Anyway, still not sure what all is going on, I had an allergy test, too. And she told me that I had the LEAST reactive allergy test she had ever seen. The only slightly elevated (but still within normal limits) was eggs. So we tried eliminating eggs for 3 months, but not much help. Still using homeopathics. Its diminishing, but I don't know if its the homeopathic treatment, or my body returning to normal after pregnancy and would have slowly resolved anyway. Whichever it is, I don't care! So long as my feet don't swell and ooze anymore I'm happy. www.ChestnutHillCurlies.com Re: Eczema > I have suffered for years and years from itchy spots that were called eczema > by doctors I went to and none of them could find the culprit behind the > terrible discomfort I've been living thru. Guest guest
Hi list, My son suffers from eczema/dry skin. We do alot to keep to under control. (diet, supplements etc) However we still need a cream and use one from here: http://www.earthwormherbals.com It has worked well for my son. She even makes a special " soy free " version for us. Guest guest
, there is a bunch of info about enzymes at (and I hope I've got this right) www.enzymestuff.com ... I've heard both good and bad things about epsom salt baths and eczema, seems to help some and make others worse. My son has had it off and on since he was a year old, so I understand your frustration. Good luck! M

It was on his legs, and he, too, had no vaxes. At first the doctor prescribed a steroid cream. The problem would reappear soon after stopping the treatment. We took him back and saw one of his assistants who recommended flax seed oil, though maybe at a higher daily dose. It worked like a charm for us and I try to have all the boys take flax every day. I take it too. Make sure you get flax seed oil that has always been refrigerated, otherwise it may have oxidized. ------Frances -- -Frances Bartels *** ki0dz@... Guest guest
Manuka honey from New Zealand is really good too. You can use the actual honey (under a bandage of course of they will stick to everything ;-) or, there is a company called Medihoney that makes an eczema cream that contains honey in a cream base that isn't sticky. I have not had eczema for about 15 years and it's just started to come back so I am using that. Of course, this will only help topically so you need to stick with the oils too to help the immune system, but if your little one is itchy, the honey will help with those symptoms. Guest guest
Wouldn't dispute the dietary advice at all, but putting anything on the eczema topically is only suppressive - evidenced by its reappearance after discontinuation of steroid creams. See a good homoeopath and get it cleared from within. Love, light and peace, Sue You can't wake a person who is pretending to be asleep. ~ Navajo Proverb > Re: Eczema > > > Manuka. Guest guest
I would look at chemicals in your home. I thought my baby's eczema was from the milk I was drinking but when I changed laundry detergents to a " free and clear " type and cut out the fabric softeners, the eczema went away. Good Luck. Guest guest
>Two of my nieces had eczema & when they switched to raw milk & raw milk products (cheese, ice cream, etc.) their eczema cleared up. If they eat pasteurized, homogenized milk products it shows right back up. HTH! developed some eczema couple months ago and instead of using what the doctor gave him (something like elledel? - said it wasn't a steroid), I stopped dairy thinking he was getting it through my milk. His eczema cleared right up. Caroline

Never have I heard that it is a cause for some underlying disorder. Are we referring to a underlying allergy? Where can I find out more information relating to your advice ? Guest guest
Hi , I also suffer from bouts of eczema and I have found what my contact is that brings a breakout. ( My first bout came right after I took a round " typhoid vaccines " at 9 years old) Connected?? don't know... I have found that " hard water " with a high iron content will chew the skin right off of my hands. We installed a triple water filter system and then a soft water system and I only break out when I go on vacation and have to shower and wash my hands in hard water. I can't say shea butter helps me but Calendula oil seems to help Lucinda Glenbrook Farms Herbs and Such Bulk Herbs, Spices, fine teas, essential oils and More! http://www.glenbrookfarm.com/herbs --- Aurora and : You ladies are " disturbing " me *smile* I've dealt with occasional eczema since childhood, usually flares up after extended time at the beach or sun exposure, and have been to doctors who would prescribe some type of steroid cream, and it would go away. Guest guest
--- I find tea-tree oil really good for our skin problems - but no-one here actually suffers with eczema. I have also bought it as a lotion in a tube rather than just a bottle of oil. Has anyone else tried tea-tree oil? Maybe worth a try.
