Guest guest
Kathy, my OS called the THR he did on me the anterolateral approach. My muscle was definitely cut...... So be sure to ask specifically what his definition of anterolateral approach means.......BARB Surgeon in Toronto RE: Blanche's post 3 and 5 days post op. I want to be like Blanche and so my question is, does anyone know of a surgeon that they can recommend in Toronto, Ontario that performs this ANTEROLATERAL method of Hip Replacement? I have gone to 4 surgeons already and figured the longer I hang on to my own joints the better as I already had a complete shoulder replacement (April 2007, so far so good) Thanks and keep active everyone Kathy
Guest guest
I had an anterior approach on the left hip, no muscles etc. were cut and no restrictions. 4 inch scar... on the right hip I had a Posterior approach as the hip was fusing,, muscles etc. were cut,, and I have restrictions. anterior approach is on the side of the upper leg... kind of on the front side... it was an easy operation/recovery for me,, would have been faster/easier but my right hip was worse so I had to do my exercises, use a walker etc... but if I had a good hip/leg to stand on I would say a month and I would have been doing just great.. so an anterior approach ------anterolateral approach must be different... PT came yesterday for the last time.. next week I go see my Doc. and just have a few questions to ask him and then it will be working on my own etc. so I can get back to my normal way of life, whatever that was.. been so long I don't rem. :-) good luck... just ask about it all. Guest guest
Good advice. When I was researching hip replacements I got confused between Anterolateral Approach and the Anterior Approach. The Anterior Approach is the one where no muscles are tendons are cut.
