Guest guest
I am so sorry and I will be praying for you. Pat Gall Bladder Hi Everyone, I just wanted to let you all know how things are going. A few weeks ago, I e-mailed the group about some pain I was having and I said I thought it was my gall bladder. Well, it is and I'm having surgery tomorrow @ 11:30 am. My GB has less than 5% output and normal is 30% - 35%. The surgeon said it's no wonder I've been feeling so bad lately. I can't eat anything without feeling sick and at times having intense pain. I've lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks from not being able to eat much (it's even hard to take all the meds and supplements) and I feel very run down and tired. I hope the surgery will help with that. I just wanted to thank everyone that took the time to write back to me or say a prayer for me. I really appreciate it. Please say a prayer for Monday, too. I am hoping that it will be done lap, but I've had other abdominal surgery (MGB, 5 c-sections, hysterectomy) and he can't guarantee I won't be cut open for this. I hope not. I'm scared about that one. I'm very nervous about not knowing what they have done until I wake up. I just pray it's done lap. Thanks everyone and I'll let you know how it all goes. Guest guest
Hi Peggy, I just wanted to say that I had mine removed lap about six years ago, and it was a VERY easy surgery and recovery. I did spend the night in the hospital, but many people go home the same day. You will feel SO much better after the surgery. I have yet to experience anything that was as bad as the pain and sickness that I had from my gallbladder attacks. My gallbladder recovery was much easier than my MGB recovery (my mgb recovery was not bad either!). A couple of days, and you'll be good as new! I will pray for you and please update us as soon as you are able. Stormy MGB 8/11/00 > Hi Everyone, > > I just wanted to let you all know how things are going. Guest guest
Good Luck Peggy, hope all goes well. You are in my thoughts. I had my gall bladder out (lap) about 8 years ago. They ended up having to cut me about 4 inches at one of the ports to get it out, the surgeon said it was because of my size. He had a hard time getting it out. It was no fun just that little cut, so I hope you can have just the lap! Best wishes, let us know how you are doing. Guest guest
Peggy, I had the old fashion gallbladder surgery before lap surgery was a possibility. It is a major surgery but it is not all that bad. Just remember if they have to open you, move, move, move. You will do just fine and I found that the surgery was a breeze compared to how bad I had been feeling pre-op. I am a nurse and I bet if Dr R was able to do a lap MGB that they will have no trouble with the gallbladder. My thought are with you.l Glenda > Hi Peggy, > I just wanted to say that I had mine removed lap about six years ago, > and it was a VERY easy surgery and recovery. Guest guest
Hi , I had my gall bladder removed last month. I was only 8.5 months out from MGB when this happened and still on Actigall. The doctor said since I was taking Actigall, I probably had gall stones before having MGB but just had an attack. So far, having the gall bladder removed has actually boosted my weight loss. Probably because I have to be more careful with what I eat especially high fat foods. Hope all goes well for you. Hamilton 9/25/03 HP - Dr. R 344/232 gall bladder Hello everyone. I normally don't post, I just read the messages but I have a question. I recently had to have my gall bladder removed and I would like to know has anyone else had any problems with their gall bladder or liver? It has been 4 years since my surgery and I've lost 140 lbs. Also I would like to know what effect will having my gall bladder removed have on my MGB surgery? Thanks
Guest guest
I had my gall bladder removed about 11 years ago (after another major weight loss -- which I of course gained back) and I was amazed at how I had no side effects whatsoever from no longer having it. I have no idea how it affects MGB, but I do know that I was told to take Actigall even without the gall bladder; apparently, you can still make gall stones even without it. Good luck to you! Guest guest
I had my surgery in 2000. I didn't know anything about this medicine. I haven't went back to see my surgeon yet for my follow up appt to ask him all these questions. He knew that I had a gastric-bypass and didn't go into details or history about it. What other information can you give me or are there any other questions that I need to ask my surgeon about? gall bladder > > Hello everyone. Guest guest
teresa, i dont know what to say.... the med was in my manual and in with my pre op meds. it is to be taken as ong as we are losing quickly. i took it for 6 months! you can look at the manual on the clos site and it is listed.... or just google search it and you will find the details about this medication. maybe you got the generic name of it.... i have never heard of anyone not taking it at all. although most people hate it as it makes you feel crappy at first! good luck cathy s in va > > What is Actigall. > > gall bladder > > > > Hello everyone. Guest guest
, I took the medication for 6 months after surgery but still had my gall bladder out last year (almost 4 years after bypass). I think a lot of gastric bypass patients have theirs out. Some surgeons take it out routinely during the operation. in Atlanta.

Guest guest
No, it's not just hanging there. ;o) He isn't really working in the area of your gallbladder, not specifically. If you were being banded in the US and had your gallbladder removed at the same time it would typically be around $5K to $8K in ADDITION to what you are already paying, so $1200 is a pretty good bargain. The hiatal hernia he will repair is a stitch or two, that's a freebie because unrepaired hiatal hernias and WLS don't go well together. In the US if you were having your band/sleeve done and needed that extra stitch or two for a hernia the US docs would charge you and additional $1800-$2K. So Dr. Aceves is a whole lot cheaper. Besides, removing a gallbladder isn't just a matter of " snip and stitch " ;o) it's much more complex and time consuming than that. Guest guest
AND, in the US, one doctor would not do both procedures. They would tell you to schedule another surgery to have your gallblader removed! H Re: Re: Gall Bladder It would be around $7K in the US so if it is $1200 that's a pretty good deal. It's longer OR time, etc. He has to pay big bucks to the hospital for OR time. It's not by procedure, it's by time. If you go to your mechanic and get your brakes repaired and you need a new... I don't know, car part... doesn't the mechanic charge you for each bit of work he does AND labor? He's in there anyway working on your car, see what I mean? Doctors are no different, they just have higher overhead. When you go get your hair done and you want it cut, they are working on your hair anyway. If they color your hair it is an additional fee, more overhead, more chair time, more supplies to use, more everything. Guest guest
I had asked about our nephew having gall bladder pain; cannot find that thread now. But today they visited the surgeon, who said he has 'biliary dyskinesia'. Apparently his gall bladder is not ejecting enough bile, and the only solution is to remove the gall bladder. The dr. said he could flush, using coke (???) olive oil and lemon juice, but didn't think that would solve the problem. He has no stones, and the gall bladder is normal. (How can that be, it is not working properly)? Any suggestions for what else he might try??

Guest guest
Yes, he did have the HIDA test, and the surgeon said the gall bladder was 'normal', as in size, not swollen or anything. I've told them about the flush, and it sounds like he's going to try that first. Thanks for the comeback, Nick! Guest guest
Steve, you might have noticed several differences between the Hulda liver flush and the Kelley flush. Pink grapefruit, ornithine, ozonating the olive oil, Black Walnut tincture, and even extending it into two days by taking more Epsom salts and even more oil, are not necessary for a good flush. An overnighter is fine. all good, Duncan > > > > I had asked about our nephew having gall bladder pain; cannot find that > > thread now. Guest guest
Massive weight loss can often cause one to have to have his/her gallbladder removed. Yes, I did have to have mine removed. After going to numerous doctors here in my hometown (Mobile, AL) no one could determine what was wrong. So, after having MAJOR problems while attending a conference in L.A. Calif, I went for a trip back to see Dr. Aceves and he diagnosed it almost immediately and I had him perform the surgery even though I have great insurance at home. He is the best surgeon around and I prefer that he is the only one who operates on me. In fact, he has done so now about 6 times!!!
