Hi everyone,

I'm 49, just had both knees replaced on Nov. 15, 2007 and am recovering

well from the surgery. Good rom (0-120), going to pt 2x a week to work

on strength and balance (which I'm having a hard time with, LOL)

I had a lot of hip pain before my surgery but my os just gave me

steroid shots and said we need to take care of the knees first. Well,

now that the knees are done, my hips are really hurting! It seems as

soon as I got off the oxycontin the pain in my hips is unbearable.

After 4 nights of very little sleep and a lot of pain, I finally called

my fam. dr. and asked for sleeping pills. They were given to me only

because I do have an appt. with my os this Friday and hopefully we'll

get to the bottom of the pain. There's no position that's comfortable

and any activity really seems to aggrivate the pain. I've tried

ibuprophan but it doesn't even touch the pain. Luckily, I have enough

percocets left to help out until I see my os. The pain is right at my

hips and seems to radiate to my groin and upper thighs. It's both

hips, although sometimes one feel worse than the other. I'm having a

lot of painful popping in my right hip, especially when doing stairs

(we have a 2 level home)and afterward.

Has anyone else had hip problems after their tkr's? Thanks for reading

this and for sharing your thoughts/experiences.

Dee
