Guest guest
I'm a bit nervous of buying on ebay, especially if I haven't seen the product. Sadly, not all the sellers have integrity where money's involved. Thanks, Alice, but I was conned by a Tasmanian! Gullible, Gaele. Guest guest
I do not understand the whole Iodine, or Magnesium thing and am just reading more veryday to try and understand more. How does one know if ones body requires Iodine or Magnesium? Does one need a blood test? Whenever I have a CT with contrast a few days later I get an horrific rash, now I have learned that if I start drinking lots of liquds , mostly water, as soon as the CT is over I will not get the rash. I have had the rash so bad I have had to go back to the dr. a couple of times. This makes me wonder if I am allergic to Iodine. I do not know what type of iodne is used in the contrast as opposed to what one takes inernally. I read so much about the need for Iodine, but don't know if my body can handle it. The dr's say it is NOT an allergy because if it was the rash would be more instant, but I know better. I know my body and I know when it ocucrs and always with a couple of days after the CT. I get a CT once a year to test for more tumors. So far so good, but this year will be the true test as I have quit taking the hormone therapy my oncologist has had me on for three years. Guest guest
I bought three new "humane mouse traps" from a Tasmanian seller. They cost me $67, and they've never caught a Queensland mouse. We get plagues of rodents in this rural community, so there were plenty of the dirty little critters to be caught. But none ever were. Damned disappointed, Gaele. Re: Re: magnesium I just received a new LeCreuset cooking pot from eBay for $25. It was perfect.I have never been disappointed. Guest guest
See, this is actually on topic. Tasmanian mice are iodine deficient, so they get caught easily as they have brain fog due to lack of iodine... Bruce Re: Re: magnesium LOL. I certainly did. Guest guest
Barbara, The best book on Magnesium which is fairly comprehensive is called The Magnesium Miracle by Dr Carolyn Dean MD. All your magnesium questions will be answered there and many you didn't know about. Its an easy read and well written. Magnesium is essential for hundreds of chemical reactions in the body. Lack of magnesium gives rise to a host of disorders. Many more than I could list now. Bruce gave a refernce to a site where it is possible to read much of the book for free> For me magnesium got tid of my back pain and sciatica in two days. No drugs no adverse effects, very low cost.. . Guest guest
, Thank you and to everyone else who responded. I just ordered the book, The Magnesium Miracle but one more queston: is there a particular book on Iodine I should read. I seem to buy 5-6 books a month on health. Amazon likes me:-) I am learning a lot. But this is a person who always beleved whatever the dr's told me and followed thier advice and thought evryone else was nuts. Of course if I knew even what I know today as new as I am to altrnative care and after reading all these books that keeps Amaon in busness I wouldn't have had surgery in the first place. But what's done is done. I have stopped my hormone threapy for the cancer cells which has my friends and family in uproar. I m not 100% following anything, but my eating habits have improved so much. I used to laugh at vegeterians because I felt they were missing out on so much (and I still like my occasional piece of meat) and then raw food. I thought these people were nuts, but the more I read and the more I study I come to realize the only person nuts if me. Now I usually start the day with a salad in the vita mixer (something I bought years ago and not for nutrition). I think I am blessed (I don't believe in luck) in that I have always loved fruits and vegetables or my health would in worse condition. I am working on it, getting there, enjoying the raw foods. I even had shredded zucchini for spaghetti and loved it. I bought several books on vegeterian cooking and on raw food preparation. I stll don't know what some of it is. I am not a good cook, don't like cooking and don't really have a lot of time for it. Buying new pots and pans for Christmas is a new start. I am thinking of taking a cookng class and something on raw food prep if I can find one in English while I am stll in Germany. Anyone know where you can get wheatgrass. I read about how good it is for you, but have never seen it for sale. There is someone on this list or on another one that recommended several books lke Bernard Jensen, and the raw food and some others and I bought them all and have learned so much, but he more I learn, the more I realize I have so much more to learn. So I am trying to put into use what I do know and keep learning. I appreciate this list and all of the wonderful people who willingly contribute their knowledge. Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
, I start with 1 tab with my morning supplements and then take 1 more each time I need one (usually no more that a total of 4/day). If I'm not feeling sleepy and ready to zonk at bedtime, I take 1. We're getting snowed in here in land! Hope your day's wonderful! Guest guest
Hi http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/food/calcium-foods.htm http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/food/magnesium-foods.htm http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/food/potassium-foods.htm Lilian put this source of data up, a couple of years ago. the general advice is to take your thyroid meds away from foods high in calcium .......but as you can see, that also includes quite a lot of magnesium... of the two or more reasons to avoid high intake of calcium at the same time as your thyroid meds, the 'binding' of the thyroxine to calcium 'salts' would prevent absorbtion; in some respects magnesium ought not to be quite so bad as calcium, but it will be included with many foods ~ also high in calcium. Hence, the best advice is to avoid food(s) at the same times as your thyroxine ( and/or NDT ). 's Home Lab Experiment was carried out some five or more years ago and she was well able to tolerate thyroid meds at night ( thyroxine or NDT ). Dutch workers repeated this experimeent on a small scale, a year or so back and recommended the addition of T3 ( slow release ) at night time to mimic the circadian rhythm of TSH/T4/T3 release overnight. This would obviate the problem of food in the morning, too close to thyroid meds. I managed to find a source of light magnesium carbonate to add to acidic drinks so that I could expect to absorb more 'soluble' magnesium when I did decide I needed to add some extra magnesium to my 'diet'. A while back, it was estimated that about half of people with adverse cardiac events showed no signs of atherosclerosis at post mortem. Hypothyroid folk tend to loose magnesium from their 'hypoxic' cells, whilst hyperthyroid people tend to need more to cope with the enhanced metabolism required in cells that are 'overstimulated'. During the transition from hypo- to hyperthyroidism, there is a point of quite high danger when the cells start to 'demand' far more magnesium than is easily available from the blood stream. Both potassium and magnesium are needed at that point to readjust the cell content of electrolytes in favour of higher a metabolic rate ( more potassium and magnesium and less sodium ). best wishes Bob > > Hi. Guest guest
Hi , Yes it's fine, but as a principle don't take vitamins and minerals at the same time as thyroid meds as some- can interfere with thyroid hormone absorption- especially calcium. > thyroid treatment > From: rachel_kijowski@...> Date: Fri, 25 Jun 2010 22:38:53 +0000> Subject: Magnesium> > Hi.
