Guest guest
Well, went to the doc today for my 6 week post op check up on the TKR. I rated a 126 degree bend and 0 degree on the extension! Everything from this point out is pure gravy as far as I'm concerned. I can't wait to walk without any of this nagging healing pain in my shin and on either side of the knee cap. And especially can't wait for it to not hurt when I go to stand up. I know I need to have patience, and that there's a long road of healing ahead of me. It doesn't help my patience level when the weather is so cold grey and rainy here in Fort Worth. Wanting spring to come....NOW! Looking so forward to planting a flower garden with my 4 year old as soon as the weather warms up a bit next week. We're planting bulbs. I know I can't get down and kneel in the dirt, but I can direct my 4 year old who is very good at digging holes with the bulb hole digger that looks like a giant long cookie cutter. It's been over 4 years since I planted anything. Couldn't walk well enough to do it. Even with the pain of healing, my mobility is already 100% better than what it was. I have 3 more sessions of in home pt left, and then my doc wants me to transition to pt at an out patient location. Problem is, my insurance covers in home 100%, and I have to pay $15-$20 for each out patient session! I think I'm going to just join the YMCA and go to the silver sneakers class. It's designed for seniors to work on ballance, mobility, flexability and modified yoga. I'm only 43, but this sounds exactly what I need to start with. I'll pair the class up with working on the exercise bike like I've been doing at home with the home pt sessions, and also a water aerobics class. I've already done some walking in the pool, and it felt great. Tne Y membership is only $40 a month for my whole family since I qualify for a scholarship of 50% off a month for a whole year. December 1, 2010, the day I got my new knee will be one of my favorite days to celebrate each year. Got to share a funny dream I keep having. I'm sitting in a tattoo shop trying to decide on what to tatoo on my knee to hide the scar. I figure I might actually do something silly right next to the scar on the side where I don't have any feeling in the skin. I'm your very sterio typical suburban PTA, Girl Scout leader type mom. The idea of getting a tatto just gives me the giggles. Hope the new year brings all good health and hummor. Hugs, Lori from Fort Worth
