Guest guest
ADD/ADHD-I've also heard food allergies/yeast overgrowth can exacerbate these And there's nothing wrong " exuberance " -unless you're swinging from the chandeliers! Spoken as a long-time substitute teacher (I'm a lot OCD with a wild ripply streak of ADD-my spices are in alphabetical order, but I've got several projects in various stages at all times--and I do finish most of them.) I had a woman in my herb shop a few years ago, and the discussion turned to ADD. I can't recall her name, but apparently she's a known expert. When doctors weren't of any help with her own child, she decided to go to medical school herself, and now her practice specializes in ADD and ADHD. During the conversation I casually mentioned, not with any seriousness, that I wonder if I might have ADHD. Her immediate response was, " Oh, yes, it's very obvious to me that you do. " I take it her " diagnosis " was due to my high energy, very animated, talkative self. She then asked if my mother had any type of serious illness while pregnant with me, saying that women who do, more often than not, have children with either ADD or ADHD (more likely ADHD). Yes, my mother was ill, she had cervical, uterine and one other cancer. The doctors told her to abort, stating the child would have severe birth defects, but she declined, and I turned out fine. I wonder if there's really anything to what this woman told me. I never did the research, as I'm not involved with any children at this time, and if I do have ADHD, it's working in my favor. I do recall, however, that I had many of the symptoms as a child, but they attributed it to my being " gifted " . It might be of interest to note that my ability to control my particular " over-exuberance " has improved since beginning my current, substantial supplementation program. Before this, I had a long history of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, extreme diets, etc), so my nutrition was far less than optimal.
