Guest guest
most everyone will tell you that replacement surgery is the best thing they ever did........knee or hip or shoulder...... after surgery, you feel better every day.....sometimes only an itty bitty bit......after surgery pain is totally different than the pain you endured before surgery....the before surgery, only gets worse and worse........BARB in Florida Hip Issue and Lower Leg Pain Joint Replacement Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 9:53 AM At age 40 I was recently diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. Progressively throughout 2010 I started with popping in the hip which has moved to pain. Reviewing the xray I've worn away most of the cartilage, and the OS that I saw is recommending a hip replacement. As of the last month I've been feeling stress in my left knee and ship. My question for those who've experienced pre replacement pain. Can the stress of a altered gait be causing the knee and lower leg pain? I live in Chicago and I'm trying to hold off on the surgery till the better weather arrives. Guest guest
Hi group,Regarding Total Hip Replacement: I have recently received a letter from DePuy Co. regarding the recall of their ASR metal on metal THR prosthesis. Registers showed that an abnormal number of revisions were being done with this model and the company, owned by and has decided to contact all patients who had this inplant from around 2003 to it's recall late 2010. My THR was perfect from 2007 til early 2010 when I noticed changes. Amongst other things it is causing metalosis and loosening of the cup, bone deterioration due to shadowing and pain in some people. They are offering to cover cost but you have to get a claim number from them. Does anyone know if everyone will end up needing a revision as it is euphemistically called? Or will some of us be OK.?? Also they will only cover costs within I think 5 years of the recall date, so get in touch with your surgeon and find out if you had a DePuy ASR prosthesis soon.
