Guest guest
hi my name is kerry vojir and i am new in looking for a support group. I have mothers at my son 's school that i talk to but i would like to be involved in your N.J. support group also. My son stephen is going to be 7 years this month. He has severe speech apraxia that i have been getting speech therapy since he was 2 1/2 years old. I think i was finally told what he actually had though last year by one of his summer speech teachers. She's the first one that actually gave it a name for me. He has come a long way but still has a long way to go people seem to understand maybe half of what he says (when he combines the words in longer sentences the intelligability is lost) although i understand him. I have a women up the street from me that her son also has speech apraxia problems so i talk to her. I'm lucky in that respect. My son really doesn't have any behavor problems but is very shy. He is very quite to begin with so when he is with other kids that talk better he tends not to say much at all. I have 2 daughters as well. Ages 11 and 10 and they practice at home as well as myself with his speech therapies. His speech teacher right now is using visuals so he can associate the sound with something he knows how to say to a new word. I hope and pray and cry a million tears each day that things will work for him and he will be able to function in a world with people who can be so cruel. As i write this now i am crying because i love him so much and want what is best for him i am trying the best i can but sometimes i just don't know what to do. thank you for your time and for listening to me. Can you please send me some information and e mail address of people i can talk to. sincerely, Mrs. Kerry Vojir s Mom Vhazelnut@...

This is a great place to be able to discuss frustrations, get new ideas, learn about new therapies, or just be reminded that you are not alone. Feel free to write as often as you would like and remember to keep an eye out for information about our August CHERAB Foundation meeting at St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, NJ. Guest guest
hi kerry...my 2.8 yr. old son also has apraxia and like you it was very hard for me to accept and understand his condition...it has only been 4 months since he's been in speech therapy and there are days when my heart feels heavy but i am trying to do everything i possibly can to help him...after i joined this support group, i realized how much hope and help there is for apraxic kids and that their prognosis is a positive one...so keep up your chin and continue what you've been doing for stephen....he is lucky to have you...email me anytime if you need to talk...do you live in NJ?...take care...JoAnn > hi my name is kerry vojir and i am new in looking > for a > support group. Guest guest
I just had to share this! My son came home the other day and said he brought me some medicine. He reached into his pockets and pulled, of all things, a handful of dandelions. We've been talking about some of the plants we have around here and what properties they have, and he, bless his heart, wanted to help me feel good. It just blew my mind that instead of thinking of pills or drugs or whatever to help me feel okay, he went out and wildcrafted all on his own. That's all, I just wanted to share what a wonderful little boy he is. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Here is the correspondance from Dr. Royal What do you all think? I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds by sharing this but I am desperate for answers. Rogene thank you again for the info on the school situation. That is what is bothering him the most right now. He wants to do well but he can't. Love you all, Anita my son Dear Dr. Royal, I have a fourteen year old son who has multiple problems and the best the doctors have been able to come up with is to put him on antidepressants which I do not want to do. I have four sons and he is the only one who has problems. He is also the only one I had after receiving breast implants. We are both sick and our symptoms are very similar. The following is a list of his symptoms. Intense anger, red face, acne, his vision goes dark, chemical sensitivities, leg twitching in his sleep, he cannot think straight in school, dizziness, light sensitivity, depression, hand sweating, insomnia, hives. Could you tell me what you would test for if I brought him to your clinic. Thank You, Anita Kessler
Guest guest
Anita, With your comment about the muscle twitching that he has, I would seriously consider a heavy metals test. Mine was only $99 when I did it. I wonder what Dr. Royal would charge? Why don't you ask him what kind of test and how much?
