Guest guest
I've been out of touch over the past few weeks as I finally had my left hip replacement via direct anterior approach. Let me share my progress.... Surgery was on Wed Mar 30th. My temp dropped to 95 and they gave me Demerol and it shot back up. I have a hard time keeping my temp above 97 anyways because of adrenal fatigue. I had an epidural so when I became conscious and until the next afternoon I had no feeling below the waist. Since I had an epidural I wasn't put under completely and did not need a breathing tube. I was up and walking the next morning after surgery. My scar is about 5 inches long in the front portion of my hip. I've had at home PT every day and am progressing rapidly according to my therapist, but it seems slow none the less to me. So this is my 11th day since surgery (I think) and my brain fog is beginning to clear and the pain for the most part has let up a bit. Most of my pain was in the IT band and quadriceps as they are extremely tight still. This whole experience has been something else and my heart goes out to all my friends here who have gone through this. I'm 54 years old and can hardly imagine going through this at 80 or 90 yrs old. I see my doctor this upcoming friday which means I will be able to start swimming in my pool for therapy as well. Weal
