Guest guest
I'm a month away from TKR and I'm getting nervous. I'm worried that it's going to cause as many problems as it solves. Right now, and for the last couple of years, I have been unable to bend my right knee at all. This is an old problem that has gotten progressively worse. My doctor tells me that I will be able to return to work in a couple of weeks, which seems really fast. Not sure how long it will be before I can drive. I have my pre-op class next week. Any advice? Guest guest
Hi Pat, wow, two at once! that was brave. I'm not going to rehab. How was your pain level that first month? I've been getting things ready. Fortunately I live in a one-story. Do you work? How long were you out? > > It's normal to be nervous. My only advice is to be sure to follow your doctor's instructions and work hard at your physical therapy. You also would be wise to prepare your home so you can move about with a walker and perhaps line up some help for when you come home. Maybe you are planning to go to rehab before coming home...but I did not and we transformed a downstairs room into a bedroom before my surgery so it would be ready for me. It worked out fine. > > I had my 1 year checkup just this afternoon. I had both knees done on Aug. 16, 2010. I had X-rays taken today and my doctor checked those and my knees, asked how much I could bend them etc. I told him I was absolutely thrilled with the results of my surgery and I was loving my new knees. It is soooo nice not to have pain in them any more. He told me they looked great and he did not need to see me any more....only if I run into any problems. So....I am free to go back to living without knee pain now and doing practically everything and anything I used to do. I do hope you can enjoy the same results. Good Luck with your surgery and do be sure to keep us updated on your progress. > > Pat in Pennsylvania > Bilateral TKR August 16, 2010 > > > > Hi all, i'm new > > > > I'm a month away from TKR and I'm getting nervous.
